Our Wedding

Anyone who knows Keith, knows that he has been cycling since he came out of the womb. Ok, not that early in life, but being on 2 wheels has always appealed to him. We didn’t meet cycling, but it is a major part of our life. Especially on our tandem as being next to Keith is where I always want to be. Love is a feeling that we cannot define but experience in all facets of our lives. Love motivates us to care for one another. Love inspires each of us. Love defines some of us. Some say Love is an idea with no real force. Love is known for its ability to create and destroy. Love is a power we’ve all got access to. Love is embraced and feared. Love, Blood and Shared experiences bond us in this life. Anyone who knows Lisa, knows that she is the best kind of human; considerate, sexy, humble, strong, and loving. She has navigated life head on, always living life as a series of learning and loving experiences that allow her to realize the visions she has of what life can be. Through our Trust, Perseverance and Patience, many of our dreams have come to pass; we’ve shared and overcome obstacles, and together, we’ll be supporting each other always. The strength we have together allows us to create and manifest our dreams in the dynamic Life we all share. Together, our Love, combined with the Strength of Heart and Mind provides us with an unshakable foundation from which to experience the challenges, success, and failures of that have and will come to pass. Our story begins about 18 years ago when I met his sister, and my best friend, Jaci. She and I met at Colliers, where we became fast friends, along with another best friend, Julie. The 3 of us did so much together, including obstacle races like Spartan and Tough Mudder. Even drinking the CrossFit kool-aid. Keith has, and still is, his sister’s biggest supporter. He came to cheer her on at a Spartan race in Colorado. I simply knew him as Jaci’s older brother, a very loud one at that. We could hear him cheering us on before he was even within sight. I loathed jumping over walls and tried to tackle them as quickly as possible, even if it meant falling flat on my ass. Which I did. Often. After one such fall, I had a major cramp in my calf and her brother was there to massage it on the spot. Felt good. Really good. But he was still Jaci’s obnoxious bro, and I didn’t think of him romantically at that time. Saw him a few more times, at races of course, and even took a self-defense class with his then wife. The highlight was Jaci straddling me. But I digress ….&nbsp; Fast forward about 10 years (ish). Jaci and Keith were moving their mom from her house to an apartment in Denver and asked me to help. Of course, I agreed because she’s a friend and well, CrossFit made us crazy strong. Not exactly a happy situation so they were both stressed to say the least. Keith was quite grumpy, in fact, and I steered clear of him for most of the day. Until our mutual delight over Brussel sprouts at lunch, much to his sister’s dismay as veggies are her biggest foe. We parted later that afternoon and went about our daily lives. 2 weeks later, it’s time for his stepdad to move from the house as well. He asked his sister if I was helping them move again and of course I was. That’s what friends do and because he asked! Ummm, flattered!! This time, instead of being grumpy, Keith was in a much better mood. He had styled his hair and smelled pretty damn good as well. Let’s just say I felt something stir inside me. Butterflies at seeing him again perhaps? Not sure what I was feeling, but it was definitely mutual as he would hand me a Kleenex box to carry to the moving truck while his sister struggled carrying a recliner by herself. Well, maybe not a recliner, but she had a much heavier lift than I did that day.&nbsp; Everything went smoothly that day. We all joked around, I had lunch with his stepdad while brother and sister continued with the moving tasks. As we were wrapping things up, Keith asked if I wanted to grab some tacos and tequila later that evening. Well of course I want to! Especially after spying his black Harley Road Glide in the garage. Good looking and a bike?! Yes please! We met for dinner in the Denver Highlands, not tacos BTW, but definitely some tequila. And some god-awful drink that he ordered that tasted like drinking a smoky campfire mixed with dirt. We ordered several (better) drinks after that and talked for hours. Went back to his parent’s empty house and finished up his sister’s bottle of tequila she left behind. Snooze you lose Jacqueline. Made plans to meet again soon and I headed home.&nbsp; I was ending an unhealthy relationship when I met Keith and had recently signed a lease for my own apartment after many years of living with a toxic partner. The last place I wanted to be was at home, but my apartment wouldn’t be ready for nearly a month. Almost every night that month, Keith and I hung out. Found a delicious donut place that became our weekend treat. Shared a beet salad, not knowing he didn’t like beets until that’s all that was left for my share. We would sit and talk for hours. I couldn’t wait until I could see him again. I was definitely falling hard for this man. I had waited my whole life to meet someone that made me feel like this. Valued, respected, playful, carefree - all the things!&nbsp; Due to a turn of events with my current living situation, I had to get into my apartment sooner rather than later. No need to rehash the details, but Keith helped me move again when my apartment was finally ready and about a month later, I asked him to move in with me.&nbsp; Since then, we have enjoyed cycling together, both on our single bikes and the on the tandem; hiking; trips on the Harley; trips to the beach; odd bathing experiences in Arkansas and various other trips. Never a dull moment with my partner in crime! Over 6 years later, we are still enjoying all the things and on April Fools’ Day this year, Keith asked me to marry him and proposed with his mom’s ring. Having recently passed, this gift from his mom was unlike any gift I have ever received. I know she is smiling knowing how much Keith and I treasure this token of her love. And how much I treasure her son. And her daughter. Because had I not met Jacqueline, I would never have met Keith. I am thankful every day and am beyond blessed.&nbsp; See you all on the beach next May when I say I DO to my best friend, partner, confidante, my everything. Captain to my stoker, as the tandem will not move seamlessly without equal effort.&nbsp;
