Lisa and Camron met through the online dating service, OKCupid. OKCupid suggests potential matches based on answers given to their (seemingly) endless questionnaire. Lisa was a light, casual user on OKCupid. Mostly window shopping, but never finding anyone really worth her while. Camron had no life outside of working, so he'd spend his free-time answering loads of questions and hoping to find someone above a 90% match.

Lisa's profile popped up on Camron's "suggested matches"...at a whopping 94%! After Camron was able to overcome his disbelief and pick his jaw up off the floor, he began crafting his opening message. It had to be short, but not too short! And substantive, but not prying! And it needed to have some open-ended questions, but nothing vague!...Well, it took Camron about 48 hours to come up with, "Hi, I'm Camron. I came across your profile and you sound really interesting! Can you tell me more about what sort of law you're interested in studying?" Amazing, right?! Ok, maybe not...but Lisa responded! Thanks to the photo of him holding a "BaCON" sign. Success!

Over the next couple of days, the two of them talked & texted. Slowly getting to know one another before Camron finally asked Lisa on a date. At approximately 6:00pm on August 8, 2014 outside of Open City Restaurant in NW, DC was the moment Camron met the woman who would become the love of his life.

During the next 3.5 years they went on loads of adventures and road-trips, moved in together, and adopted the cutest puppy ever, Peanut!

On Valentine’s Day of 2018, Lisa expressed her disappointment to Camron that they weren't engaged yet. Everything in their relationship had been going so well and they frequently talked about getting married, but Camron wasn't making any moves! What gives?!

Unbeknownst to Lisa, Camron had already purchased an engagement ring weeks (months) before and strategically duct-taped it to the underside of the sofa where Lisa typically sits. During their conversation Camron feigned remorse for not being more proactive in advancing their relationship. He reassured Lisa that the topic was on his mind, but he was worried about making such a big commitment. In reality, Camron had already begun secretly planning Lisa's surprise engagement party that fell on her birthday weekend.

On March 16, 2018, Camron gave Lisa her birthday gift: an itinerary outlining a romantic getaway to Virginia wine country. The trip included private tours and tastings at Lisa's three favorite wineries. But it was all a ruse!
In reality Camron had spent months meticulously planning to gather all of Lisa's immediate family and some of her closest friends at her favorite winery, Fabbioli Cellars, for a surprise celebration. Camron layered his ruse further by telling Lisa's friends that it was only a surprise birthday party. Only Lisa and Camron's immediate families were privy to the truth behind the event.
At 1:00pm on March 17th, 2018 Lisa's closest friends and family walked into the tasting room where the couple was waiting for the "private tour" to begin. Lisa's first reaction was confusion, exclaiming that one particular gentleman bore a striking resemblance to Camron's father. Upon further inspection she realized that nearly 20 people in the room looked awfully similar to all of her loved ones. It's safe to say, Lisa was certainly surprised!

As the afternoon progressed Lisa was all smiles. Excited to have the chance to share her birthday with the people she loves. After enjoying cake and opening gifts, only one gift remained; a card from Camron...which he forgot at home in the drawer of his nightstand. Luckily, he had a digital backup on his phone!

The card said:

"Life is a story you write as you go.
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have you as my co-author these past few years. You support me when I struggle. You care for me when I’m sick or injured. You laugh with me (or at me) when I’m goofy. Not to mention, you’re like the best training partner ever!
I wake up every day wondering what in the world I did to ever deserve someone as amazing as you in my life. But rather than question it, I thought I’d try my best to just show you how much I appreciate you. That’s why, over the past few months, I’ve been covertly organizing this party. I wanted you to be the center of attention in a room full of people who love you and care about you. Because that’s about the closest thing I could think of to describe the way you make me feel every single day.
Now, I have two questions for you: 1) How did I do?"

Through happy tears, Lisa told Camron that he did wonderfully. Then asked what the second question was...

At that moment Camron dropped to one knee, presented the ring (which he did remember to bring!) and asked Lisa if she'd like to get married.
