If you had told both of us that we would meet our soulmate on a dating app at the beginning of a once-in-a-century global pandemic, we would have laughed it off without a second thought. However, in May 2020, that's exactly what happened!
We met on the most romantic of platforms, Bumble, on May 7, 2020. Believe it or not, we had matched on another dating app six months earlier and had narrowly avoided working together at Philly Improv Theater the year before, but we didn't truly get to talking until our fateful match on May 7th. Immediately, we bonded over our love for hay bales, art, comedy, and quirkiness, and after a few virtual dates, our first in-person date at Belmont Park, and marching through the city together as part of a racial justice protest, we officially became a couple on June 6, 2020.
Despite the beginning of our relationship being anything but ordinary—the world was still in lockdown and we spent most of our time together in solitude—we fell in love quickly and moved in together in the winter of 2021. As the world slowly returned to normal, we joyfully met each others' family and friends and began to learn what our lives would be like outside of a pandemic.
The rest of 2021, 2022, and half of 2023 passed us by quickly, with many life changes. We lost our beloved pets, Luca and Kitty, in the fall of 2022 and adopted our new BFFs Olive and Velma later that year. Jacob's work as Poorly Drawn Arsenal exploded, leading him to many exciting opportunities of working with Arsenal and various brands. In early 2023, Liz accepted a new copy editing job at a global company. Throughout it all, we learned how to support and celebrate each other, grieve together, move through life transitions together, and most of all, how to laugh throughout it all. On July 9, 2023, Jacob proposed, and Liz said yes!
We are so excited to share our story and celebrate this milestone with our family and friends! Thank you for always supporting us, and we can't wait for you to join us at our wedding.
