Things to Do

There is so much to enjoy while you are visiting Sonoma County! Sonoma County is of course famous for its wine, as well as its coastal views, and the gorgeous redwoods.

If you head toward Bodega Bay, check out beaches such as Salmon Creek or Portugese beach, eat some oysters or crab at Spud Point, or dine at classic restaurants such as The Tides. Alfred Hitchcock's eery film The Birds (1963) was filmed in Bodega Bay. Pass by the recognizable church, and you'll see it still looks the same.

There are fantastic wineries to visit all over Sonoma County, from Bodega Bay to Napa and the town of Sonoma. You could book a wine tour or even visit the Castello di Amorosa, which is a winery with a Tuscan castle.

If you love animals, visit Safari West for the best Safari you can get in this part of the world. Go "Glamping" by staying overnight for a three course meal and a stay in a luxury tent. Luke and Liz have done this twice and absolutely loved it.

Even closer to the venue, you can check out Howard's Cafe for a delicious breakfast after the wedding day, and then browse through the eclectic shops of Occidental. You can go ziplining right next door to the venue, and you can even book a stay in a Canopy Treehouse with ziplining to and from your Treehouse in the redwoods. Here you can see where Lizzy and Luke worked in the summer of 2021 as Zipline guides.

The town of Sebastopol is a 15 minute drive away, which is the couple's favorite town. Stop by The Barlow, which is a string of bars, restaurants, and shops that Luke and Liz frequent. The couple recommends you stop by Golden State Cider for a drink, and order an Acre Pizza while you're sitting at Golden State. If you'd like, check out a movie at The Rialto, a charming movie theatre just steps away. Before you go, definitely stop by Screamin' Mimi's IceCream, which is an iconic ice cream parlor known for their odd and amazing flavors such as Olive Oil.

Travel Tips: -To make the most of the trip if you are flying in, you may want to rent a car for ease of transport, especially since some of the towns are more remote and unlikely to have rideshare services available.

-Make sure to have your navigation ready before you leave a town or take a screenshot of the map before you head on the road, since service is spotty in Occidental and Bodega Bay.

-If you visit Bodega Bay beaches, don't hop in! There is a massive undertoe at many of these beaches, which has taken people in the past. It will be too cold anyway.

We can't wait for you to see our favorite places at and around our venue; the area we met as teenagers and grew up together. We hope you make happy memories with all that is available in the area before and after our wedding.
