How We Met

Liza and Ryan first met each other through the dating app Hinge in September of 2021. Ryan remembers seeing Liza's profile and hoping they would immediately match when he swiped right. Unfortunately, he had to wait a few days before Liza was presented with Ryan's profile. Once they did match, the couple began talking and both of them immediately knew this wasn't just another dating app match - this was something more. A couple days later, they made plans to meet for the first time at Väsen Brewing Company. Ryan arrived 10-15 minutes before Liza arrived. Liza arrived 10-15 minutes past the time they agreed on. He remembers seeing her walking up the sidewalk and immediately texting his friend "she looks even more beautiful than her profile, which is awkward because I probably look worse than my profile". As soon as they started talking, everything felt natural. The conversation was easy and the laughter was flowing. Liza was in awe that he was 27 and owned a house- all of her close friends were renting apartments in The Fan. Even though they were basically strangers at this point, it felt like they had known each other for years. In an effort to ensure they saw more of each other after this date, Ryan tasked Liza with making a list of her favorite restaurants in Richmond for them to go to together seeing as Ryan was still newer to Richmond and had not explored all of the different staples around the area. Ever since their first date, Liza and Ryan have been inseparable. Liza and Ryan are each other's favorite partner for football tailgates, JMU/VT games, concerts, NASCAR races, beach trips, at-home YouTube trivia nights, weddings, New Years getaways, and more. They have supported each other in the lows, and have enjoyed and celebrated the highs. They are always each other's first call, whether it's to talk about the round of golf Ryan just played, or for Liza to share the latest Jonas Brothers update. One of their favorite things to do as a couple has become cooking together at the end of each day. This time has become their favorite time to connect, check-in and catch up over trying a new recipe or re-making a favorite one. They are both so excited to celebrate their big day with all of you with good food, music and laughs. We couldn't be the couple we are without you all as part of our story!

When should I RSVP by?

Please RSVP as soon as you know if you are able to attend! This will help Ryan and Liza plan out dinner for everyone. Let us know by answering on the RSVP tab no later than February 14th!

Is there a dress code?

The dress code is semi-formal/cocktail attire. We ask that gals wear garden party style dresses - cocktail, midi, or floor length dresses, or jumpsuits. Guys should wear a suit, or coat, slacks and a tie. We won't turn down a tux, but it's not required. Coats and shoes can 100% be removed for more accurate dancing later!

Is the wedding outside?

The ceremony and cocktail hour will fully be outside (weather permitting). No one can predict Richmond weather, so please dress accordingly. The paths on the property are made of brick and tend to be uneven due to wear and tear over the years. There are grassy areas as well, so anyone planning to wear heels- please keep this in mind!

Are children allowed to come?

We absolutely adore all the little ones in our life. However, this is an adult only wedding. We'd love for you to have a night off of parental duty to celebrate us!

Can I bring a plus-one?

We are not allowing additional plus-ones to our wedding, as we'd like to keep the guest list to those who know us well. The name of every guest invited to attend is clearly listed on your mailed invitation. No additional guests can be accommodated.

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

We ask that you please refrain from using your phone for any matters during the ceremony and be present with us at that time. Our awesome photographer has it covered on ceremony photos! For the rest of the night, we encourage you to take all the content you can and upload to the shared folder by scanning the QR code that will be on your table at dinner!

Will there be an open bar?

Yes! If you feel inclined to tip the bar staff, you can, but this is not mandatory. We do ask that you bring cash or credit card if you plan to attend the after-party, as drinks after the reception will not be covered.

Can I leave my car overnight on property?

Yes! We encourage all guests to take advantage of the transportation to and from the wedding, leaving from and dropping off at the hotel. However, if you decide to drive to the wedding venue, you are allowed to leave your car overnight. All vehicles must be removed from the lot by 10AM on Sunday, March 15th.

Will there be transportation?

TIME: 4:30PM Departure from Hilton Richmond Downtown. We have arranged transportation for those who wish to use it. There will be multiple buses picking up guests from the Hilton Richmond Downtown location. These buses will be leaving no later than 4:30PM on 3/14/26. If you are not staying at the Hilton Richmond Downtown, you can still use this arranged transportation. You will just need to find your own way to the Hilton Richmond Downtown to catch the buses before they leave at 4:30PM.

If you're looking for a bite to eat during your stay in Richmond, head over to Liza and Ryan's favorite neighborhood grill &amp; bar, The Grill offers a fun environment and delicious food- they've got pretty much everything! Liza and Ryan have spent numerous hours at The Grill watching JMU &amp; VT football games, eating corn dog nuggets, and enjoying a cold beverage (or a few).

If you're looking to enjoy a nice, cold Richmond-local beer, head over to Väsen Brewing Company! This brewery was the location of Liza and Ryan's first date, so it holds a special place in their heart. Since that date, Väsen is a frequently-visited spot whenever Liza and Ryan are looking to enjoy the weather with a couple brews. They have a lot of fun sour beers- Liza's favorite!

If you're looking for a quick breakfast bagel, stop by Nate's Bagels! While it's no Bodos Bagels, Nate's is home to one of the best bagel sandwiches you can find in Richmond. Nate's. Order ahead via their website, and swing by to pick up a breakfast sandwich! The classic sausage bagel sandwich on an everything bagel has saved Liza and Ryan numerous Sunday mornings.

Located a mere 0.3 miles from Liza and Ryan's home, Final Gravity in the Lakeside area is one of the couple's favorite breweries in Richmond. Offering the best beer in Richmond (in Ryan's opinion), Liza and Ryan love popping over to Final Gravity to play trivia on Tuesday nights, enjoy a beer on the patio with Sully, and have even attended a comedy night there. If you're an IPA-lover, we recommend you check out Final Gravity before leaving Richmond!

The VMFA is a beautiful place to explore while in Richmond. With a large outside lawn, excellent for bringing a meal and enjoying the weather, the VMFA is one of Liza and Ryan's favorite spots when the weather is nice. Pop into the museum to enjoy a number of different beautiful exhibits from one of the largest comprehensive art museums in the United States!

Pie The Couple!

In celebration of the big wedding day being on Pi Day (3.14), the couple has agreed to a friendly competition between the two of them. Liza and Ryan have consented to one of them being pie'd in the face at the end of the night (once the group returns to the hotels after the reception). The rules of the competition are as follows:
