Tangent Outfitters is the go-to for paddling trips on Montgomery and Giles county section of the New. They can take you on guided fishing trips, outfit you with canoes or kayaks, and run shuttle. Half and Full day options availble. They also have a cafe and small outdoor shop, and are conveniently located at the entrance to the ever-popular Cascades hike.

There are plenty of places to take a hike nearby.

The Cascades is a 4 mile round trip along a trout stream to a 66 foot water fall. Take a dip in the swimming hole below the falls if you work up a sweat. Always popular!

Bald Knob is a short hike to a stunning view of the mountains and river valley below. The journey begins at Mountain Lake, known as the filming location for Dirty Dancing, followed by a climb less than a mile to the summit. Super quick, and a great view!

Catch sections of the Appalachain Trail throughout the area. McCaffees Knob, Dragons Tooth, Tinker Cliffs, and Audie Murphy are all highlights and highly recommended.
