Cole and I met in high school and started dating when he was a sophomore and I was a junior. We made long-distance work all throughout high school, even despite our busy schedules. Instead of going into the all the lovely details about how our love story began, I will let Kacey (my maid of honor) share about it in person, on September 21st!
Cole and I attended DWU for a year together before Cole realized that he was ready to farm and start learning everything he could from his dad, Mike. We then did some more distance-dating as I lived in Mitchell and Cole was busy living on the farm outside of Canova. After I graduated college in May 2021, I moved in with Cole to the big town of Canova.
Two years later, on June 30th, Cole took me out to eat at one of my favorite restaurants, the Barrel House, in Sioux Falls. It was 9:00 PM and I was hangry. I got out of the truck, but Cole was taking a while to get out of the truck. He told me that he couldn't find his wallet and asked me to come help him look for it. He has played this prank on me many times before as it's his way of saying "haha, you have to pay," so I told him no, I would not come help him look. After about three more times of him asking me to come help him find his wallet, I marched to the other side of the truck (still very hangry) to find Cole on one knee, in the Barrel House parking lot. In disbelief I said, "Are you serious?! Right now?!". It took Cole opening the ring box for me to know he was, in fact, being serious. Without hesitation, I said yes! I cannot wait to spend forever with my high school sweetheart and spend our anniversaries at no other place than the Barrel House.
