January, 2017:
Jansen and Logan first met while playing soccer in Northern Kentucky for the Kentucky Olympic Development Program. As a result of sharing the same birth year, the pair often trained at the same time. In January of 2017, Jansen's training session ended prior to Logan's. Once her training session concluded, Logan noticed that her soccer ball was missing. The couple's first exchange occurred when Logan realized that Jansen was leaving the field with her ball. Jansen claimed that he took Logan's ball because “Logan was a boy's name” and all of the boys had already left the field.
March, 2017:
Logan and Jansen were selected to play in Holland for the Olympic Development Program. The two first noticed each other in the Cincinnati Airport while waiting to get their boarding passes. The couple officially met when Jansen asked Logan to be in his group for Soccer Golf in Rotterdam, Holland. Despite Jansen's claims of "not trying" during the golf game, Logan won. As the week of the trip went on, Logan grew the courage to ask Jansen to friend her on Snapchat.
April, 2017:
Logan and Jansen began texting immediately after arriving back in the United States. After only a few weeks, the couple went on their first date. They were 15 years old.
May, 2017:
Logan and Jansen officially started dating on May 26, 2017. At the time, Logan lived in New Albany, IN and Jansen lived in Elizabethtown, KY. Unfortunately, the two were not old enough to drive and, as a result, both Logan and Jansen's parents would drive them to meet each other halfway at an exit between New Albany and Elizabethtown (Brooks Road). Oftentimes, one was picked up to visit the other, and would be driven back to meet their parents at the exit a few hours later. This lasted for over a year.
March, 2018 - April, 2018
Logan and Jansen travelled to England to play with the Olympic Development Program at Liverpool Football Club.
Shortly after coming back to the United States, the couple went to prom.
June, 2018
Logan and Jansen celebrated their first anniversary on May 26, 2018. Little did they know that in two months from then, Jansen would move to Columbus, OH to play for Columbus Crew Academy.
In June of 2018, Jansen received notice that he was being recruited by Columbus Crew's Academy. At the time, Logan was committed to play collegiate soccer for Western Kentucky University and Jansen for the University of Kentucky. After spending a majority of his soccer career with Javanon, a club in Louisville, God helped Jansen make the decision to officially move to Columbus. There, he would live with his wonderful host family, the Elliotts, and take online classes as a senior at Elizabethtown High School. The couple went from being one hour apart, to four hours apart.
May, 2019
Despite the long distance, Logan and Jansen made an effort to see each other at least once a month.
In May of 2019, the couple graduated high school and Jansen moved back home to Elizabethtown, KY for the summer.
The couple celebrated their 2 year anniversary on May 26, 2019, and Jansen gifted Logan with a promise ring.
July, 2019
Just after Jansen moved back to Elizabethtown, Logan reported for preseason at Western Kentucky University on July 5, 2019. 3 weeks later, Jansen started his season at the University of Kentucky. The couple went back to being over 3 hours apart.
October, 2019
Through the help of Jansen and his family, Logan accepted God into her life and was baptized by Jansen's aunt, Rachel, in Bowling Green, KY.
January, 2020 - May, 2020
After winter break in January of 2020, Logan and Jansen prepared to return to school for their spring soccer seasons. Unfortunately, the world turned upside down when the first cases of Coronavirus were reported.
As weeks went on, the number of Coronavirus cases skyrocketed and the government enforced a mandatory quarantine. As a result, all athletic activities were cancelled and students were required to stay home for the semester.
Despite being an hour apart, Logan and Jansen both played for colleges with strict Coronavirus protocols, and were rarely able to see one another.
May, 2020 - March, 2021
This time period consisted of numerous challenges that proved the strength Logan and Jansen's relationship.
As the number of Coronavirus cases decreased, the couple was able to move back to college under strict regulations. These regulations required Logan and Jansen to be tested weekly for the virus, and to only have close contact with immediate family and roommates. Not only this, but soon after returning to school, the NCAA announced that fall sport seasons were rescheduled to take place in the spring of 2021.
Despite this announcement, teams were able to remain on their respective campuses, attend classes, and practice with the use of masks. Unfortunately, it was at this time that Jansen broke his left foot during a training session at UK. His fracture required him to have surgery and a recovery timeline of 5 months. Not only this, but in November of 2020, Logan made the decision to step away from soccer and end her career as an athlete at WKU.
Although Logan's soccer career ended voluntarily, her decision came with an adjustment period. Fortunately for the couple, they were able to see each other more often, and Logan helped Jansen recover from his injury.
Jansen's efforts to heal his foot shortened his recovery time, allowing him to return to play for the spring season. Once the couple went back to college in January of 2021, Logan took on a heavier load of teaching courses and Jansen began training. Everything was finally looking up!
It wasn't until a few weeks later that Jansen would break his other foot. As a result of suffering the same injury, his right foot also required surgery and left him with another 5 months of recovery.
Despite all of these challenges and major life events, Logan and Jansen celebrated 3 years together as a couple.
