No trip to Omaha would be complete without tasting the best ice cream in the country! Besides being our favorite dessert in town, Coneflower frequently has new, innovative flavors. They also have numerous dairy free options. We recommend going to the downtown location, as the line is usually not as long!
Located in the Aksarben neighborhood, Inner Rail features a plethora of local restaurants. The sheer number of options make it worth a visit, and we've never had a bad meal here!
Zen coffee has a wide variety of delicious drinks and pastries. The best part? You can try more than one with a coffee flight or split cup. Their midtown location is also the perfect place to sit and enjoy a book!
Lyle's has some of the best pizza in Omaha! The building it's in also has lots of charm. Don't skip the pesto roll, it's a wonderful savory take on a cinnamon roll and well worth trying!
Lumen is one of our favorite breweries in Omaha. They have a great vibe and even better beer (especially their IPA's)! If beer isn't your thing, you can grab a glass of wine or kombucha at iDLE Wine & Goods next door.
Continually ranked as one of the best zoo's in the country, the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is a great place to get some steps in! Our favorite area is the Desert Dome, and our favorite animal is the Red Panda. If going on a weekend, be sure to arrive when they open at 9 to beat the crowds and check out the indoor exhibits first.
One of our first dates in Omaha, the botanical garden is a great place to take a walk on a nice day. The greenhouse is unique, and there is usually an art exhibit.
Completely free, the Joslyn Art Museum has a wonderful selection of Native American art. Their contemporary section is new, and it's easy to spend several hours perusing!
Take a walk down the riverfront or walk across the river on the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge! The path goes from Old Market through the north side of downtown, with the option to walk into Iowa. A nice way to stretch your legs and enjoy native grasses and wildflowers.
A little to the north-east of Omaha, Hitchcock Nature Center is a great chance to see the Loess Hills. The hills are an extremely unique geological feature of the area, with the only similar feature in the world located in Northern China. With trails of every length and difficulty level, it's the perfect place to take a hike!
