Q: Do I need a visa?
A: Most nationalities (including US, EU, & Singapore) can obtain a visa on arrival for 30 days. The visa costs $25 USD (EUR or GBP) and is paid in cash.
Q: Getting around Cairo, should I rent a car?
A: Cairo is definitely a driving city, but we do not recommend renting a car as driving in Cairo is not for the faint of heart.
Uber is everywhere, and very cheap! Aamen took a 40 min uber ride to the airport for $4 in November.
We’ll arrange transport to/from the airport, on our tour days and to/from the wedding.
Q: What should I wear in Cairo?
A: Cairo is a major international city so these days, anything goes especially if you’re a tourist. There’s no expected dress code but a few things to keep in mind;
Touristy areas: Anything goes.
The only time it gets specific is if you are entering a mosque. In a mosque, women should cover their heads and dress conservatively. Men are required to cover “navel to knees.” Check the home page for our wedding dress code.
Non-touristy areas:
Women: Covering knees, chest & shoulders. Carrying a shawl can come in handy, covering shoulders or heads where needed or keeping warm when indoors.
Q: Do I need vaccinations:
A: Egypt doesn’t require vaccines on entry unless you’ve recently been in an area of high risk of yellow fever.
