We are so excited to have our family from near and far come celebrate our big day with us! As you start to plan your travels, there are a few things to know to make the most of visiting our beautiful mountain. We are getting married in Beech Mountain, NC. Our out of state family and friends who are flying should fly into Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). It‘s about a two hour and 45 minute drive to Beech Mountain and car rentals are available at the airport. Once on the mountain, there are several options for your accommodations. Each area offers its own charm, and how you’d like to spend your time over the weekend will help determine which side of the mountain you should stay on. From there, you can decide what suits you best, hotel or Airbnb.
We are getting married in Beech Mountain. Finding accommodations close to the wedding venue will be ideal for the easiest access to our festivities. However, it is a mountainous area with mostly homes, and few businesses. There are no hotels here. The best bet for accommodations at Beech Mountain will be finding an Airbnb. We suggest grouping together and booking a larger cabin to make transportation to the venue easier, however there are apartment style Airbnbs on the mountain as well. For reference on proximity when booking accommodations, the wedding venue is Beech Mountain Club on Clubhouse Road.
Blowing Rock is a sweet little town you will pass while coming up the mountain. Although it is about 50 minutes from the wedding venue, the area is quite a unique place to stop. To explore the true heart of Blowing Rock and all its fun little shops, follow the signs off Hwy 321 to Main Street as you’re heading up the mountain. There you will find many restaurants and shops with all kinds of knick knacks, from candles, jewelry, art, clothing and various other things. It’s a fun place to shop and walk around if you’ve got a couple of hours to spare, and you may choose to stay here if you like the small mountain town feel. There are small motels, inns, B&B’s, lodges, and Airbnb rentals in the area .
Boone is larger, and is a college town (home of Appalachian State University). You may pass through it making your way up the mountain. Boone is the heart of this beautiful mountain where we fell in love with each other and with the area. In Boone, you will find the university we both attended, lots of our favorite restaurants, a bowling alley, and most of the activity on the mountain. If you are wanting to stay busy during your time on the mountain, Boone is the place for you. It is about 45 minutes away from the wedding venue and offers multiple hotel options. Airbnb’s are also available in the area.
Banner Elk is located about 15-20 minutes from the wedding venue. This is the closest town to the wedding venue that has multiple restaurants, local grocery stores, and a gas station. Banner Elk is located right at the base of Beech Mountain. There are small inns, cabins, lodges, and Airbnb rentals available in the area.
Beech Mountain is where the wedding will be held. You can choose to Airbnb and stay close to the venue to make it easiest to participate in our festivities, and then travel to explore the surrounding areas in your free time. For guests staying at Beech Mountain, we hope to have a shuttle to assist with transportation after the ceremony and celebration.
Or the other option, you may choose to stay in one of the surrounding towns to be close to what they have to offer during your stay, and drive to Beech mountain for the wedding. Please be aware that Ubering to and from Beech Mountain would be quite expensive and it is best to be committed to driving.
