Formal attire is required for the Mass with shoulders and knees covered. Shawls or other external shoulder coverings are acceptable for the Church's dress code. The reception is outdoors in August in California so feel free to dress accordingly (shorter sleeves or sleeveless) or bring a more comfortable dress or pair of shoes to change into. Even the bride will likely be bringing a change of shoes for the reception!
