Our story began in 2018, in the back of our junior year history class. We were both young, and awkward, and neither of us knew how to flirt, but Ashley did her best with Laffy Taffy jokes, and Luke with games of hangman. Over time, we got to know each other better and eventually found ourselves at a local coffee shop together on our first date. The date, much like our flirting, was a little bit awkward – we both wore business casual. Just a few days later, we found ourselves on our second date, and then a third, and then countless more. Throughout the past five years, we’ve had the honor of growing closer through trips to the park, late night ice cream runs, and dreaming of everything to come. One of the greatest privileges we have had, is witnessing the other become an even greater person than the other could imagine, even being in different states and time zones. While being away at separate colleges, the two of us have spent far too many hours on facetime and driving to the other, learning how to balance friends, school, work, and our relationship. What few people understand, is that while we missed each other deeply and never stopped counting down the miles to the other, the love we share only continued to grow more than ever anticipated, and the pride felt for belonging to the other grows far beyond distance and time. Here we stand, years later, eagerly planning and waiting our lives together, feeling luckier than ever. Though we do not know what lies ahead, we know that the best is yet to come.
