Things to Do

Guatemala has multiple beautiful destinations that are worth visiting, Antigua 1 hr away from the city, is were the wedding will take place. This is our favorite destination and the closest to the city. We recommend staying in Antigua at least 3 - 4 days to enjoy the local markets, walking around the Colonial city, and eat in some of our recommended places:

- Casa Santo Domingo - Guatemalan food and fusion food. The food of the Wedding will be served by them!

- Fonda de la Calle real - Guatemalan food great for breakfast

- El tenedor del cerro - Guatemalan cuisine with views

- Tartines - French cuisine

- Cerveceria catorce - local brewery with nice views

- San Cayetano - for views of the Volcanoes 30mins drive but worth the drive

- Cazador Italiano. (Italian)

- Café Mediterráneo (Italian)

- Hectors Bistro (French)

- Angie Angie (Pizza & live music)

- Fermento (French / American)

- Fridas (Mexican)

- Mesón Pansa Verde (High Cuisine)

- El Patio de la Primera -a Big house with a large central patio, serves international food

- Nokiate -Japanese fusion with a nice garden

Santo Spirito (amazing Italian bistro good for afternoon drinks)

- Antigua Brewing Company - has an amazing view from its terrace to watch the sunset

- Nana - fancy local and global cuisine

- Barriga llena - great street food type made by a local chef at a restaurant

- Comalote - special heirloom corn tortilla initiative with an amazing restaurant of Guatemalan typical food

- Nanik - Guatemalan creative fine cuisine

- Los Tres Tiempos (Guatemalan fusion)

- Bistrot Cinq (French. Dinner)

- Welten (German. Dinner)

- Café La Escalonia (coffee or breakfast)

- Caoba Farms (organic food in nature feel)

- El Palacio de Doña Leonor (High Cuisine. Dinner or Drinks)

- Finca Filadelfia (Breakfast or lunch. Coffee growing experience)

TIKAL is also a MUST see place in Guatemala. Home of the Mayan civilization. It's far away, but it can be done as a day trip if you fly. You can get there by airplane (45mins) or by bus/car (9hrs!).

Atitlan is also a place worth visiting, a lake surrounded by volcanes and towns to visit by boats. 3.5 hours drive from the City, 2.5hrs from Antigua.

Another top experience is Volcano climbing, if you are in good shape the one with outstanding views is Acatenango Volcano, you will need 5 hours to climb and 3 hours to descend. WORTH the views of the "Fuego" Volcano erupting.

For a more moderate climb, close to Antigua, and with good views, we recommend Pacaya volcano were if you are lucky you will get to see lava. 1hr climbing and 30mins to descend.

For places in the city to eat we recommend:

Cafe Mimi - our family owned restaurant

Diacá - award winning chef Deborah Fadul Guatemalan high cuisine

Sublime - Guatemalan flavors and ingredient creative cuisine

Mercado 24 - non traditional Guatemalan food

Rendez Vous - french cuisine

Don Emiliano - good traditional steak restaurant
