Our Story

Nathan and Lydia's Love Story

Our love story has continued to remind me daily of God's plan being far greater than our own plans! Nathan and I met way back in the 90's at Oak Hill Primitive Baptist Church. We can't remember exactly when, but it was sometime around when I was 2/3 and he was 7/8! Nathan's family had moved from California, and my family had moved from Maryland, and we both landed right in Austin at the exact same church! It didn't take long for me to become best friends with Nathan's little sister Angela, and from that point on, I spent a large portion of my youth at the Bohm's house! Since Nathan was the older brother, he really didn't pay much attention to me at all during those years haha!

Flash forward to 2022, and so much had happened in both of our lives! After I had lived out of state for my job for many years, and Nathan had lived on the Texas border for his, we both moved back to Austin, TX to be closer to home! We had completely lost touch with both each other, and each other's families, and had honestly completely forgotten about each other.

By a very God orchestrated moment (because there is just no way this could have happened by chance!), I went out to lunch with the pastor, and his wife, of Oak Hill Primitive Baptist Church. While there, they happened to notice that Nathan and his parents were sitting in the booth behind where we were sitting. They went over and said hi, and Nathan and I ended up talking a bit at the restaurant. Within that next week, Nathan had found me on LinkedIn (I still laugh that he reached out over LinkedIn haha!), and he asked if I would like to get together to catch-up sometime. Flash forward to December 2nd, 2023, and Nathan surprised me in the morning when he proposed to me with my favorite thing, a cup of coffee haha!

Fun fact: we got to celebrate the evening of our engagement with none other than the Governor of Texas! Governor Abott hosted a Christmas Party, and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience getting to talk to the Governor about getting engaged that morning!
