Q + A

What will the weather be like?

As all of us Texans know, Texas weather can be so unpredictable, especially in the fall! I did a ton of research when deciding on a wedding date, and I found the average temperature in September is around 95 degrees! So hot! Because of that, we will be hosting the cocktail hour and reception indoors, and we will make sure we have water available for the ceremony!

What is the dress code?

The wedding and reception will be semi-formal/dressy casual! The theme of our wedding is "elegant autumn", if that helps! :) The men in the wedding will be wearing black jeans with boots and cowboy hats, so definitely a very rustic vibe and less formal! We are aiming for a rustic fall look with lots of candlelight, rich florals, and rust accents throughout.

Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will be taking place at the Wildflower Hall at McKinney Roughs Nature Park. The ceremony will be outside in front of the hall, and the cocktail hour and reception will be inside the hall. There is a large wrap-around covered porch at the Wildflower Hall that will have some cocktail tables, so folks are welcome to go outside, as well! :)

What will your wedding-day timeline look like?

The wedding day timeline will be fairly flexible, but we are planning for the ceremony to start at 2:30 pm and run roughly 30 minutes. From there, guests will go straight into the cocktail hour while all the family portraits are taking place. Cocktail hour should last about an hour, and during that time, drinks will be available, and Chuy's will be catering their amazing queso and creamy jalapeno dip! We are also having a live artist who will be painting guest's portraits! :) After that, we will begin the reception, and dinner will be served from Chuy's buffet style! We will have a live musician for the entire event, so we hope y'all enjoy the music, drinks, and dancing! We plan to end the reception at 8:30! Can't wait to celebrate with y'all! :)

Is there parking available near your wedding venue?

Because I always worry about parking, I thought I would include this haha! There is ample parking in front of the Wildflower Hall. The Hall is located near the Visitor Center when you first drive into the park. The McKinney Rough's staff will have some directional signage set up from the parking lot to the Wildflower Hall, so guests know they are entering the right building as there are a few different buildings in front of the parking lot.

Am I allowed to bring my children?

Yes! We factored our guest list around ensuring folks could bring their whole family, if they choose to, so please feel free to bring everyone! We ask that you include anyone in your family attending in your RSVP, so we can account for seating and food.

Will there be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies?

We will try!! I am including a section on the RSVP for you to list any dietary restrictions, but also please feel free to reach out and let me know, and we will try to ensure we have food to accommodate! :) We will be having Chuy's enchiladas, chips and dip, and rice and beans.

Can I bring a plus one?

Definitely! We just ask that you include that person on your RSVP so we can plan accordingly with our food count and seating chart! Super appreciated!

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?

The ceremony will be starting at 2:30 pm, and we will be having an amazing live musician who will start playing at 2:00 pm, so feel free to get there early to enjoy some live music!

What is the best way to RSVP?

Ideally, on this website! But I totally get wanting to mail the RSVPs too, so I am including an RSVP postcard in every invitation that folks can mail back to me if they prefer! The key for us is if y'all can RSVP by the deadline please (so appreciated!!), so when all the vendors ask for headcounts, I'm ready to go with the correct numbers!

What are the colors of your wedding?

I wasn't going to add this one, but I have had a lot of folks asking me about this, so I thought I would include it! :) The color scheme is rust, burnt orange, burgundy, and red! Think rich fall colors! By no means do I expect guests to follow this in how they dress (we are just so grateful you are there celebrating with us!!), but just so people know! :)
