Childcare

Children are welcome in the auditorium during the ceremony. However, we realize that some kids find weddings intolerably dull. Childcare is available for children up to age 4 during the ceremony.

GSP is a fantastic small airport. It is easy to navigate and well-maintained. In good traffic conditions, you can get from GSP to Clemson in 50 minutes.

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport

Flights into CLT are often cheaper than flights into GSP, but the tradeoff is a two-hour drive to get from Charlotte to Clemson.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport

ATL is the busiest airport in the world. In optimal driving conditions, you’ll need about two hours of driving to get from ATL to Clemson. In Atlanta’s typical traffic, you’ll need an extra twenty minutes.

— Waterfalling in Love —

We’ve been to a lot of waterfalls together. Here are some of our favorites.

Enjoy a short, easy hike to Meadow Falls. The trail continues past the falls and winds along the shores of Lake Hartwell. This petite waterfall holds a special place in our hearts since it was the site of several major developments in our relationship, from our first big walk-and-talk to our engagement.

This picturesque little waterfall is one of our favorite spots for a quiet walk. The trail starts where Todd Creek passes under Brookbend Road and follows the stream south to the falls. A network of trails continues past the falls, offering views of an old stone dam and one of Lake Hartwell’s many bays.

Waldrop Stone is the tallest of the three falls in the town of Central. The trail is easy, but there is a steep staircase down to the bottom of the falls.

Lee Falls is one our favorite waterfalls. The trail starts out very easy, but gets narrow and steep close to the falls. Be prepared to cross a few shallow creeks and clamber over a few logs.

Enjoy a series of beautiful falls. The trail leads downhill past a series of observation decks. The third deck is the farthest point with a view of the falls, but the trail continues on for several more miles if you want the exercise.

Glen Falls

Enjoy a 3-mile round-trip walk to see one of our favorite falls. Most of the trail is relatively flat, but there is a steep hill down to the base of the falls. Getting back uphill might make you regret skipping leg day, but the view is well worth it. At the falls, shale layers angle upwards, pooling water and turning a narrow creek into a wide waterfall. If you (and your quads) feeling particularly adventurous, crawl down the south slope of the ridge to visit nearby Maxie Duke Falls.

Sids Falls

See a pair of falls on the beautiful Brasstown Creek. The upper falls is accessible by a short, well-maintained dirt path with no significant hills. The lower falls is even more impressive, but will take a bit more effort to get to—the hill down is steep in places, with occasional log staircases. If you visit the falls on Friday or Saturday, stop in to the nearby Brasstown Creek Gathering Place for some classic southern barbecue.

The hike is tough, but the view is worth it. Plan on at least three hours of hiking to make it out to the falls and back. Note that Gorges State Park charges a parking fee.

— Historic South Carolina —

The South Carolina militia constructed Oconee Station in 1792 to intercept Creek raiding parties. The original blockhouse still stands, along with a contemporary trading post. The site is open on weekends, and admission is free. Check out Station Cove Falls while you’re in the area.

See a 1790’s flour mill, several historic cabins, a traditional blacksmith shop, and some of SC’s oldest known pictoglyphs.

Hagood Mill Historic Site

Visit an incomplete 1860’s railroad tunnel. Construction began in 1856, but the project was terminated in 1859 due to cost overruns. In the 1950’s through 1970’s, Clemson University grew blue cheese in the tunnel. Enjoy several miles of hiking trails on the property. Be sure to check out Issaqueena Falls while you're in the area.

— Food & Drink —

Breakfast like a hipster. Enjoy an assortment of classic and novel breakfast dishes, many made with vegan and locally-sourced ingredients. Our first date was brunch at this cafe, followed by a walk around the pond at the bottom of the hill.

Enjoy a coffee, hot chocolate, or a pastry in this classic small-town American coffee shop. During his time at Clemson University, Adam met here for a weekly Bible study with a group of other students.

Stop in for soup and a sandwich or pick up a pastry.

The Village Bakery & Cafe

Mellow Mushroom makes some good pizza. Chow down on classic pepperoni or try something a little more adventurous. This is one of our favorite spots to grab supper after a hike.

— Other Stuff To Do —

There won’t be much blooming in January, but the SC Botanical Garden is still a great place to take a walk if you need a place that’s more accessible than our favorite waterfalls. Many of the paths are wheelchair accessible.

South Carolina Botanical Garden

Peruse a collection of fossils and gemstones. Adam’s favorite part of the collection highlights flightless birds. Admission is free.

Bob Campbell Geology Museum

Nettles Park is a great place to get the kids aired out. Available facilities include pickleball courts, soccer fields, and a dog park. A footbridge crosses Eighteen Mile Creek to connect the park to Patrick Square.

Fling some plastic at the area's finest disc golf course. The course layouts can be a little confusing since the signs and maps don't always agree—boldly chart your own path through the course.
