Getting Here (An Absolute Feat)
The Kootenays are so special because to get here you have to really want it.
We have two little airports that are half an hour away from us and one that is about 2.5 hours away.
Friends have offered to pick people up if they need to, but to really enjoy your time here, a car is pretty nice!
West Kootenay Regional Airport (YCG)
Lovingly/begrudgingly called 'Cancel-gar' in the winter, this airport exclusively flies Air Canada Jazz from Vancouver directly to Castlegar and back once a day.
If you are connecting from Toronto, this is the fastest way to get here.
Trail Regional Airport
Have you ever wanted to have every single bone in your body tumbled around while sitting 2 feet from the pilot who is also the flight attendant and the baggage guy? Honestly, a truly lovely way to fly.
This airport provides flight service to and from Vancouver YVR through Pacific Coastal Airlines. In Vancouver, flights come in and out of the South Terminal at YVR, which is a small airport shuttle ride away from the main terminal.
Trail Regional Airport is a 30 minute drive from Salmo.
Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC)
Cranbrook is a beautiful 2.5-hour drive away from Salmo. The airport offers several flights a day through Air Canada and WestJet. This is a great option if you need a little more flexibility on flight times.
