Things to Do

Sunriver

Picture of Sunriver

Sunriver has been the playground of the Pacific Northwest since 1968, and the playground of Maddie and her extended family since 1980. Blessed with an average 300 days of sunshine a year and located just southwest of Bend near the base of the Cascade mountain range, Sunriver's 3,300-plus acres and 4,177 unit properties are flanked on the west by the Deschutes River and surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest.

Sunriver has been a destination for our extended family reunions and friends trips for years. It has a special place in our heart for this very reason, and for the fact that it was the spot that Matt both fell in love and proposed to Maddie! A list of our favorite activities to do are below!

- Miles of paved pathways to walk or bike

- Fort Rock Park for tennis, pickleball, sand volleyball, and more

-Hike and explore nearby forest service trails and lakes of the Sunriver area and beyond

- Aquatic facilities (The North Pool, The Cove Aquatic Center, and Sharc)

- Golf courses - Woodlands and Meadows

- Sunriver Resort Lodge (restaurant, spa, pool, tennis and more)

- Sunriver Village with shops and restaurants

- Beer! Sunriver Brewing (including the new taproom located at the brewing facility) and Mountain Jug are among our favorites

- Float the Deschutes: Drop in at the Marina or at the Harbor Bridge for a longer float

If you’re looking to beat the heat on the water, Sun Country Tours offer guided whitewater rafting trips, paddleboard, and tube rentals.

Beer Beer Beer!

With over 30 breweries in town, slews of awarding-winning brews, and a wealth of outdoor activities to work up a thirst, beer is a part of the Bend culture. And with so many hop-driven locals, you’ll find a copious amount of breweries and pubs to choose from.

Throwing it back to 1988, Deschutes Brewery helped launch the craze as a small craft brewery. And they’ve helped inspire the next generation of brewers and breweries pouring out heavenly pints, flights, and growlers. Along with the beer, the breweries food menus and/or food trucks at the locations have delicious mouth watering food ready to serve!

Our favorites include:

- 10 Barrel (both the East and the West side!)

- Silver Moon Brewery

- Crux Fermentation Project

- Bend Brewing Co.

- Sunriver Brewing Company

- GoodLife Brewing

- Bridge 99 Brewing

- Boneyard Beer Pub

- Worthy Brewing

- Deschutes Brewery

Food Trucks

The Bend, Oregon food cart movement is alive and thriving. You’ll have no problem finding one offering lip-smacking food that’s full of variety, creativity, and unique flavors. In fact, our food carts are rivaling those in much bigger cities, giving Portland a run for their money.

Bend’s food carts come with so many varieties of cuisines, flavors, and dishes that will excite your taste buds and make you drool a little. From authentic flavors of Kauai at Aini Kauai Style Grill to traditional Oaxacan at Alebrije Oaxaca. Or maybe you’re in the mood for something saucy like St. Louis pork ribs smothered in homemade BBQ sauce at Bigfoot Barbeque. Whatever you’re hankering for, there’s a food cart out there with your name on it.

What goes better with all these delicious dishes? How about washing it all down with a cold, hoppy, dark, sweet, or dry beverage. Stop by a few of our favorite breweries like Crux, Bevel, and Bridge 99, where you’ll find onsight food carts that pair perfectly with your tasty craft beverage.

Bend’s also home to several permanent food cart pods like Podski, The Lot, Midtown Yacht Club, and On Tap. Not only do they have a great variety of delicious eats to choose from, but they also include onsight taprooms serving local beverages like beer, cider, wine, or soda pop for the kids.

Some of our favorite food trucks include:

- El Sancho

- Rush's Squares

- Fricken Faco
