Madeleine and Kevin met in 2016 at a very special place - the Dave & Busters buffet line. Kevin had just been hired by their same employer, Airgas. Airgas was having a team event at D&B. When Kevin showed up, the first thing he did was go to the buffet table, which ended up being an excellent choice because Madeleine was already there.
Kevin asked Madeleine what was good; she responded kindly . . . "I don't know." Kevin looked down at the chicken fingers, french fries, pretzels and chips on her plate and thought to himself . . . "she clearly knows what is good here."
Time went on and their friendship grew. After about a year, Kevin moved to Chicago and later went to law school. In 2021, Kevin vacationed in Florida to escape winter where he mustered the courage to text Madeleine which then led to a planned first date. The first date had to be rescheduled because Kevin was in a car accident (not his fault). Kevin was very worried that he ruined his chance at a first date.
Madeleine, being the lovely lady she is, gave Kevin another shot. The two planned another date which involved pizza and an appetizer Kevin said he liked, but actually didn't. One date led to another, which then led to Madeleine inviting Kevin to come live with her at her new Wauwatosa, WI home. Kevin not only had a stable girlfriend, but also a stable landlord.
Time continued to pass and their love continued to grow. The two took trips to Miami, Boston, San Diego and later Europe. Eventually, Kevin realized nothing else mattered except Madeleine's happiness, seeing her smile and hearing her laughter. He bought an engagement ring, hired a photographer (shout out Lily Shea) and made plans to ask her hand in marriage next to Lake Michigan.
On the day of the engagement (8/18/24), Madeleine went to tennis lessons and Kevin went to her parents' house. He told them what was going to happen and why it is happening; they gracefully approved. The day was cloudy, but when the two left for dinner, the sun finally came out. Kevin was a nervous wreck.
After dinner, the two walked to the lake. Kevin could see everything set up at which time Madeleine said "oh cool, a photographer is here." Kevin responded . . . "Yeah, I bet you can take great pictures over here."
Madeleine turned to look at the lake and Kevin got down on one knee. She turned around to see a Man holding a ring with his hand in hers. It was a good sign Madeleine put the ring on before even saying yes. The two then sought out their perfect venue to get married and have their loved ones with them to celebrate. Through time, their story was made, but just like with time, their story is far from over.
