Will and Madeleine met for the first time at the Edinburgh Catholic Students' Union's Freshers' BBQ in 2015. Madeleine was exhausted from traveling back to Edinburgh from Charlottesville the day before, and wanted to go straight to bed after cleaning up the BBQ. Will, however, ruined her plans. He walked in through the emergency exit after all the guests had left and struck up a conversation. Madeleine was suddenly glad she had not ducked away early…

About a month after their first meeting, William struck at the end of a long run, and asked Madeleine if she would like to join him for drinks one evening. Madeleine, physically and mentally exhausted from the run, had no choice but to say yes.

A few hours at one of Edinburgh's finest cocktail establishments, Dragon Fly, was enough for Will and Madeleine to decide that they wanted to see each other again. Over the coming months they went on more dates, introduced each other to their families and friends, and began to realize that they were ready to spend the rest of their lives together.

Fast-forward to the 20^th of July, 2017. Will whisked Madeleine away to the Scottish Highlands for a weekend of walking, eating, and relaxing. That afternoon, at the end of a walk along the West Highland Way, Will got down on one knee and asked Madeleine to marry him. She immediately said yes, and the celebrations began!

William and Madeleine are getting married on the 18^th of August, 2018, in Madeleine's home town of Charlottesville, Virginia. We hope that you will be able to join us for our Nuptial Mass and wedding celebrations!
