Our Wedding

Maddy and Evan both met while attending Lafayette High School, however, this is not where their story begins. Their paths crossed many times, but never went further than a "hey" or a wave. It wasn't until 2018, a year after Evan graduated and Maddy was finishing out her senior year, that they re-met while Maddy was working at Busch Gardens. Evan was hanging out with Gerard (shoutout to the matchmaker) when they coincidentally ran into Maddy while working. That night they began messaging, made plans to hang out a week later, and then were inseparable. Over the summer of 2018 Maddy and Evan hung out nearly every night after they were done working, they frequented Cookout to play cards with friends, walking around Colonial Williamsburg, or hanging out in the WISC parking lot. Before leaving for her freshman year at JMU and Evans second year at VCU, they made it official. Four years flew by, Maddy remained at JMU and Evan decided to leave VCU to transfer to Community College, they spent those years 2 1/2 hours a part. The weekends were full of visits and adventures and counting down until they could live together. It became very clear very fast to Evan and Maddy that they wanted to be together forever. Further proving this is featured in the photo above are bracelets that Maddy made for her and Evan the first time Evan visited Maddy at JMU. The bracelets have been worn by the both of them since that day. The day after Maddy graduated from JMU 2022, Evan proposed on the Quad of JMU. Thanks to the help of Grace Granger, Evan completely surprised Maddy. This began their next chapter together. Maddy and Evan moved out to Normal, Illinois, a 13 hour trip, so Maddy could pursue her Masters degree. Evan accompanied Maddy into the midwest having no idea what to expect. They got their first apartment together and kept pushing back the wedding as they learned how much living on their own cost. Eventually, they adopted Kiwi after searching for the perfect dog and after Maddy graduated in 2024, moved to West Lafayette, Indiana for Maddy's job at Purdue. And that's what leads us to now. For 6 years, Maddy and Evan have faced the many life challenges thrown their way, and they've done it together. They have relied on each other through the mountains and valleys they've trekked thus far in life and come out every time stronger and more appreciative of each other than before. They are best friends, pet-parents, the love of each others lives, and each others number one fans. They cannot wait to finally be married after an over 2 year wait and are looking forward to celebrating with their loved ones. :)

Meet some of our favorite people! 

Amelia is Maddy's youngest sister, who just happens to be one of her best friends too. If you knew Maddy and Amelia when they were much younger, this may be a surprise, but as they've gotten older, they've grown closer. Amelia is the best person to go to for a laugh, TV show recommendation, or fashion advice. Maddy has always known her Maid of Honor would be Amelia and can't wait to have her by her side.

Gerard and Evan have been friends since Evan’s sophomore year of high school! They met through the Lafayette band and ended up becoming great friends all through school. Gerard is the person you go to when you need someone to cheer you up or if you want to aimlessly wander Colonial Williamsburg all night. He is also the person we have to thank for Maddy and Evan starting to date in the first place hence why he is also referred to as the matchmaker.

Grace and Maddy have been friends since freshman year of high school (10 years ago!!!) They met in 9th grade honors English and ended up being in the musical together. All through high school they were connected by the hip. They spent the weekends eating Chinese food, pizza rolls, and watching Jane the Virgin together. Grace is the person you go to for a smile, a good story, a game of Pictionary, sleepover, or a fun time.

Neil is one of Evan’s friends that he happily made through Maddy, however he has also become one of his closest friends. The first time Evan and Neil met, Neil after 5 minutes of hanging out proceeded to ask Evan if he wanted to spend the night at his house. Neil is the friend you go to when you wanna drive around and listen to the most outrageous remixes and songs.

Emily and Maddy have been friends for almost 10 years, another Lafayette high school theater friend. Emily and Maddy bonded over a trip to the build-a-bear outlet, picking blueberries, makeup/nail polish, and just general goofiness. Maddy and Emily competed together in Forensic Speech competitions and won many awards together. Emily is the best person to laugh with, listen to Heathers the musical, give you random science facts, and play "the game" with.

James and Evan have been friends since high school band. We did marching band together and that’s where our friendship really got started. If you want random dinosaur facts or other sciency things he’s your guy. From walking around making dumb jokes that make strangers mildly uncomfortable to driving around crammed in the back seat with a bunch of other friends just for the vibes.

Keely and Maddy have been friends for 10 years. After meeting each other through high school theater, they became close in The Wizard of Oz when Maddy was Keely's understudy. Keely is one of the best people to go to a brewery with, get stuck in the snow after sledding, play Mario party, talk to about plant science, and overall joke around with.

Dylan is Evan’s brother just younger than himself. Dylan and Evan have both bonded a lot over a shared love of the arts, mostly music and photography. As is the case with most siblings they have always had their ups and downs but Dylan is one of the best not only brothers but friends Evan could ask for.

Elizabeth was Maddys first friend after moving to Williamsburg. They met in their theater foundations class during the first period of the first day and have been friends ever since. Elizabeth is one of those friends that no matter how much time passes between seeing each other, it’ll be like you were never a part. Elizabeth is the best person to drive around with, do a face mask, make monkey bread, and just chat about anything with.

Josh is yet another great friend that Evan made through Maddy. One of the first interactions Evan and Josh had was them talking about the cinematic masterpiece that is Whiplash, at a later time they proceeded to watch said movie with Neil (mentioned above). There have been many late night hangouts at cookout playing card games, random meetups after long shifts, and even virtual game nights over zoom. Josh brings some of the best vibes to any group and is one of Evan’s best friends.

Where to fly into

If you are flying into our wedding, we recommend utilizing the Charlottesville-Albermarle Airport (CHO). This will be the closest airport to our venue, at about a 30 minute drive. However, due to this being a smaller regional airport, flights can be a bit pricier than if you flew into a larger airport.

The closest larger airport is the Richmond International Airport (RIC), located in Richmond, VA (the state capitol). This is a little over 90 minute drive from the venue. This airport is the one that Evan and I typically utilize and has more flight options.

The Blue Ridge Parkway has entrances near Crozet that will lead you into the mountains and some beautiful mountain hiking spots. Please check out the website for information on the parkway and the many things to explore through the drive.

The Shenandoah National Park is about a 30-minute drive form our venue (and some of our recommended accommodations are a bit closer). The park is gorgeous and offers many hikes throughout. Worth a visit!

Monticello

Bold Rock is one of our favorite drinks. Bold Rock makes ciders and was created within a 30/40 minute drive from our venue. The cidery has beautiful views of the mountains and is a fun place to grab a drink and relax.

If you have the time and are willing to drive around 90 minutes, Luray Caverns has the largest caverns in the eastern United States. The caverns ar adorned with speleothems such as columns, mud flows, stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, and mirrored pools.
