Kevin: Are you still at Hamilton church?
Madi: Yes...we met there, didn't we.
Kevin: I'm at Crosswalk - the plant started by all the former Hamilton people.
Madi: How's the new place?
Kevin: How's the "old?"
Barista: Order for Madeline! Order for Kevin!
The two get their drinks and she joins his table, discovering they have quite a few things in common.
Madi: My car is in the shop, so I've been stuck here all day.
Kevin: How about lunch? I know a good Mexican spot just down the road.
She thinks for a moment...pondering if he's a convincing serial killer or actually just a nice guy. Her hunger encourages her to trust him.
Madi: Sure.
Madeline finishes a call with the body shop. Kevin dips the last few chips in the salsa.
Madi: Uh huh....it's part of the computer system?...Ok...I'll be there shortly. Thanks. Goodbye.
She ends the call.
Kevin: All good?
Madi: No. I need to take my car to another shop downtown, but I work way on the top of Signal Mountain. I'm not sure how I'm going to get to work.
Kevin dips the last chip in the salsa and grabs the pen to sign the check.
Kevin: ...What if I took you?
Madi: Are you sure? It's pretty far?
Kevin: I don't fly out until next week so...sure!
As they wait for Madeline's car to be fixed -for the second day in a row - Kevin takes Madeline to lunch on her break. The waiter delivers their food and exits the scene. They're alone in the hippie-run restaurant's greenhouse-style room.
Kevin: Would you like to pray?
They bow their heads.
Madi: God, thank you for this food and thank you for bringing this amazing man into my life at just the right time.
Kevin smiles. We hear his thoughts: "I guess she finds me useful...Amazing?...I'll take it."
Madi: Amen.
Kevin: Madeline...I've really enjoyed our conversations. You are a beautiful person - inside and out. I cherish our time together and I don't want it to end.
He takes a deep breath, mustering the courage.
Kevin: Will you be my girlfriend?
Madeline pauses. Savoring the moment (and the power she holds over the man before her)
Madi: I'll give you my answer...
Kevin: Yes?
Madi: ...at the top.
They step into the elevator - Kevin nervous, Madi grinning - as the elevator ascends the 160 feet to the top. As it arrives on the surface, she turns to him and answers.
Madi: Yes.
Time passes as Madeline and Kevin both navigate highs and lows - weddings and funerals; promotions and layoffs; laughter and tears. The two begin to realize that no matter what life throws at them, they seem to make it through as long as they have each other.
Madi: Did you forget the tripod?!
Kevin: Oh no...bummer...I guess we'll just have to ask someone to take our photo.
Madi: What? And get your phone stolen?
Kevin: Lots of tourists do it. Let's go to the Gardens.
As they near the entrance, Kevin spots a man with a backpack.
Kevin: Bonjour Damien!
Damien: Ah! Bonjour Kevin!
Confused, Madeline rolls her eyes.
Madi: You would randomly know someone in Paris.
Kevin: (laughs) No, babe. This is Damien, a professional photographer. He and I have been planning this for weeks. Surprise! You're getting a professional photo shoot!
