Our Wedding

Scott and Maddie both attended Asbury University and always knew each other through mutual friends. It was not until the fall semester of 2024, however, that they began to pursue a friendship that quickly turned into a life-long partnership and romance. While taking a class together called "Prophetic Literature," the professor who is in charge of the Paris study abroad semester came into the class to advertise the study abroad opportunity. When she saw that Maddie was in the class and completed the semester in Paris last fall, she encouraged the class to connect with Maddie if they should have any questions about her experience during the Paris semester. The only classmate that followed up was Scott. After class that day Maddie quickly emailed him to set up a coffee meeting. The following day Maddie and Scott met in the Hiccup at Asbury University and discussed her experience with the Paris semester for 10 minutes and spent the next two hours talking about their lives, interests, love of God, families, and everything else. They quickly discovered a very easy and refreshing friendship that over the course of the following months blossomed into a deep relationship. In July of 2025 Scott asked Maddie to marry him, which she gladly accepted. Scott and Maddie are looking forward to getting married and being best friends, partners, spouses, co-ministers, and husband and wife for as long as they both shall live in May of 2026.

Paige and Maddie were assigned to be roommates freshman year at Asbury University, and they have been best friends ever since. Through numerous road trips, late-night laughs, and early morning Bible study, Paige became more than a college roommate to Maddie, but a sister in Christ and friend for life. Paige is equal parts silly and fun, as well as serious about pursuing the Lord in everything she does. Maddie is honored to have Paige stand next to her on this special day as her matron of honor.

Jude and Scott met during a freshman initiation camp at Asbury called Archways. The two did not initially hit it off, but over the course of their freshman year grew closer to one another because of their shared devotion to growing in relationship with Jesus. Both share a love of music, ridiculous humor, and a (sometimes unhealthy) passion for debating theological differences. Scott is beyond excited to call Jude his best man, as he is first and foremost Scott's brother in Christ.

Emma and Maddie became quick friends during their freshman year at Asbury, having met the summer before at Indian Springs Holiness Camp Meeting. Emma is kind, generous, and silly. Emma and Maddie have grown so much together over their years of friendship, including living together for a semester in Paris. Maddie is honored to have Emma stand by her on this special day.

Josiah and Scott met their sophomore year in the trunk of a friend’s SUV on their way to Outback Steakhouse. Not only did they bond over being below 5'6" (and being forced to ride in the trunk of a car when all the seats were taken), but also over their radical encounters with the Holy Spirit, shared humor, and love of adventure.

Kayden and Maddie became friends at Asbury University through mutual friends and casual conversations in the cafeteria. Their friendship deepened over the semesters, and eventually they moved into an eight-girl apartment on campus. Maddie treasures Kayden’s friendship and is honored to have Kayden stand beside her on this special day.

Scott and Trent met Scott's sophomore year and Trent's freshman year at Asbury playing pickleball. Though now their shared interest is not pickleball, but rather binge watching movies, eating Taco Bell, and giving each other relationship advice. Trent and Scott are more than just "buddies," but genuine brothers in Christ.

Hannah Stephenson is the sister of the groom and the future sister-in-law of the lucky bride. Maddie grew up with two brothers, always wanting a sister, and the Lord has far surpassed Maddie’s prayers and hopes in Hannah. Maddie is excited to grow in friendship with Hannah as they grow in life together now as family, and Maddie is beyond honored to have Hannah stand beside her and Scott on this special day.

Brooks is the younger brother of Maddie. Scott and Brooks became good friends during Brooks' freshman year and Scott's junior year at Asbury University. Brooks told Maddie one day, months before Scott and Maddie started dating, "Maddie, if you were to date anyone at Asbury, I would be okay with you dating Scott." This is big praise coming from the protective little brother! Brooks and Scott are dear friends who laugh a lot (sometimes a little too much), geek out over Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, and would both die for Maddie.

Lucy and Maddie grew up as neighbors and attended the same middle school and church. Over the years, the Lord has used Lucy’s friendship in Maddie’s life to draw her closer to the Lord and show what His joy looks like in daily life. From their middle school bus-stop Bible study to doing ministry together in Poland one summer, their friendship has grown deeper over countless shared laughs. Maddie is so excited and honored to have Lucy stand by her on this special day.

Lucy Goodwin

Branch is the older brother of Maddie. Fun fact: the day after Scott and Maddie officially started dating, Branch was in town and stayed in Scott's dorm room at Asbury University. Scott was incredibly intimidated by his new girlfriend's 6'1", bodybuilding, and superhuman athlete older brother, but quickly warmed up to someone who loves and cares for his little sister so much. Scott may still be (slightly) intimated by Branch but the two became quick friends.

Branch Atkins

Maddie and Jillian met during their time studying at Nazarene Theological College in Manchester, England last Autumn. Jillian and Maddie were fast friends who found quickly that they could stay up laughing together so hard they couldn't breath or talking about theology and global missions. Within the short two months they spent as neighbors in their dorm building in Manchester, God blessed Maddie with a life-long soul friend in Jillian, and Maddie is beyond honored to have Jillian standing with her on her wedding day.

Eduardo and Scott are high school friends who’s friendship has withstood the distance of colleges in different states. Scott is thankful to have a friend so kind, so genuine, and so faithful like Eduardo standing by his side on his wedding day.
