Scott and Maddie both attended Asbury University and always knew each other through mutual friends. It was not until the fall semester of 2024, however, that they began to pursue a friendship that quickly turned into a life-long partnership and romance. While taking a class together called "Prophetic Literature," the professor who is in charge of the Paris study abroad semester came into the class to advertise the study abroad opportunity. When she saw that Maddie was in the class and completed the semester in Paris last fall, she encouraged the class to connect with Maddie if they should have any questions about her experience during the Paris semester. The only classmate that followed up was Scott. After class that day Maddie quickly emailed him to set up a coffee meeting. The following day Maddie and Scott met in the Hiccup at Asbury University and discussed her experience with the Paris semester for 10 minutes and spent the next two hours talking about their lives, interests, love of God, families, and everything else. They quickly discovered a very easy and refreshing friendship that over the course of the following months blossomed into a deep relationship. In July of 2025 Scott asked Maddie to marry him, which she gladly accepted. Scott and Maddie are looking forward to getting married and being best friends, partners, spouses, co-ministers, and husband and wife for as long as they both shall live in May of 2026.
