You may have some questions as to what to wear, specifically about Indian/South Asian attire if this is your first Indian wedding. Luckily you’re in the right place and hopefully this breakdown can help give you some guidance. However these are just suggestions, PLEASE wear what is comfortable to you at each of the events, whether that is a suit, dress or Indian/South Asian attire.
*We recommend avoiding red for the Hindu ceremony and white for the Wedding ceremony as these are bridal colors!*
Guide to South Asian Clothing:
Feminine
Lehenga - A blouse and floor-length skirt with a scarf
Salwar - A dress and pants combo
Saree - A 6ft fabric draped around the body with a blouse
Saree Skirt - A pre-draped saree in the form of a skirt
Gharara - wide-legged pants with tunic
Most women prefer to wear lehengas, ghararas, or salwars . If you are feeling ambitious, you can try a saree, but definitely watch a few YouTube videos to learn how to tie one. These days, you can find pre-stitched sarees as well, which are super easy to wear and look just like the real deal.
Masculine
Kurta - A loose collarless shirt
Sherwani (M) - A formal version of a Kurta, usually with heavier patterns or embroidery

Most men prefer wearing kurta pajama sets, with or without the addition of a Nehru jacket or dupatta.
