Madi and Jacob grew up attending neighboring schools and knew of each other but didnt get to know one another until running into each other in Cedar Falls.

Jacob had moved to Cedar Falls to begin working for John Deere and Madi had recently returned from her time studying abroad in Greece. Neither of the two had any idea the other was now living in Cedar Falls and both were very confused to see each other down town one evening.

A few days later, Jacob reached out inquiring about getting a drink to catch up sometime. The conversation slowly grew from there. Things started to take off when Jacob needed another girl to fill in on his coed slow pitch team. He asked Madi if she would be interested in playing. Not only did she play that week but she also played three or four more times that summer.

One night Jacob "had an epiphany" and Madi wasn't sure what words were going to come next. Jacob thought they needed to go on a date. Madi eventually agreed to go on the date and the next Thursday was the day. After getting food and drinks they then enjoyed some line dancing and playing darts. That was when they both realized a competitive spirit ran deep in each of them.

From there more dates took place and things started to take shape. Jacob had a plan to officially ask Madi to be his girlfriend on a date they had planned for the following week, Madi not knowing this, commented one night when they were hanging out if he was going to ask her. So he did and she agreed.

Their relationship blossomed as Jacob was able to help with Madi's love for gardening and supported Jacob in his love for farming. Almost every night they play a board game or card game of some sorts and love to get their friends involved as well. Talks of the future would begin and the vision was starting to become more clear.

One afternoon when back home to farm Jacob stopped by the Schroeder's to talk to her parents about having Madi's hand in marriage. With her partent's blessing Jacob worked on a ring after taking Madi to look a few times and felt confident in his selection. It all came down to picking the right time and place. Having talked with their parents he came up with a plan and set it in motion tipping Madi off that they were going Christmas caroling in Le Mars with Jacob's parents. She was a little skeptical at first but thought why not. When they got there she was very confused as she say her parents standing there as well. At this point Jacob got nervous and dropped to his knee before they actually made it to the lit up archway. Madi finally turned around and was incredibly surprised! SHE SAID YES! A few months later that brings us to today.
