Short story: we met through a mutual friend out one night in January 2023, started dating long-distance (which then got shorter and shorter), and ended up here!
Long(ish) story: I was out in Nashville with some friends shortly after returning from deployment. Unbeknownst to Maggie and me, she also happened to be going out with some of our mutual friends that night. After catching a glimpse of Maggie when she came outside to talk with Annabeth Breeden (her coworker, and one of my friends), I decided my new mission was to talk to that girl. My friends and I made it inside, and before I even had the speak with Maggie, Annabeth surprised us all by buying a round of drinks and raising a toast "To Bash and Maggie!" (Thanks Annabeth!) We were introduced with "Maggie, Bash is in the Army!!!", and "Bash, Maggie is a Presbyterian!!!", and we were off to the races!
Later, after a night of getting to know each other and arguing about Ole Miss vs. Tennessee and Army vs. Navy, I looked Maggie dead in the eyes and said "I think I'm going to marry you one day."
Maggie wasn't really convinced. I was.
I proceeded to describe how we would get to know each other while I still lived in New York for the next six months, and potentially make a few visits to each other. Then, I would move to Georgia where we would start "taking things more seriously" as we would be within driving distance and see each other more often. And finally, I would move to Fort Campbell in December of 2023 to take command of a company after finishing Captain School, where we would get to see each other "all the time", and get engaged in the summer of 2024 and married summer of 2025.
If you've been keeping up with us at all, you probably now realize that I was right on the money.
In between those big highlights have been fun football games, opportunities to get to spend time with each other's families, many dinners made together, lots of games of fetch with Ike, and chances to get to continue to get to know each other better. It's been the best!
So, with all of our thanks to God, the Breeden siblings, Tin Roof (much to Maggie's dismay), and both our cars for putting up with all those miles back and forth for getting us here, we're so thrilled to get to continue on this adventure together, soon as husband and wife!
Thank you so much for celebrating with us. We're so lucky to have a community of people around us that love and celebrate us in this way. See you June 28, 2025!
