Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What Vaccinations/ Health Considerations Should We Know Before Traveling To Bali?

Connect with your Medical Practitioner and Travel Nurse AT LEAST 30 days before your trip to inquire behind the most recent vaccine updates. Also look to purchasing First Aid and Travel Medicine Kits. RECOMMENDATIONS: - Review the travel advisories and guidelines for your destinations on the U.S. Department of State and CDC's website at https://www.state.gov/travelers/ - Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website at Travelers' Health | CDC https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/indonesia

Q: What is a Visa On Arrival or Electronic Visa On Arrival?

A: The Indonesian Visa on Arrival (Visitor VOA) is a type of visa that allows foreigners to stay 30 days in Indonesia without any pre-organised visa. You can apply online through this website and pay with a credit card here >>> https://molina.imigrasi.go.id ~ Alternatively the VOA can be obtained upon arrival at Indonesia International Airport (Cash payments accepted only with this option). * Fee $35 USD

Q: Which airport do I fly into for our Bali Event?

A: I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport/ Denpasar International Airport (DPS). ~ Another option is to fly into Jakarta International Airport (CGK) and then transfer to Bali (90 minute inter-island flight).

Q: What is the climate like in Bali in August?

A: August is the sunniest month of the year on Bali, with an average of 10 hours of sunshine a day. It's another dry month, with temperatures averaging 27°C (80° F), though expect higher humidity levels (90% and above) for your stay. The island boasts perfect beach conditions, making the south coast resort regions of Jimbaran, Sanur and Seminyak particularly popular. The central region around Ubud and Munduk experiences slightly cooler, more comfortable temperatures during the month.

Q: How will we get around Bali?

A: Please contact us to arrange a rental car or pick up services through our friends at Bali Sweet Guide. Bali Sweet Guide offers very affordable prices which includes the car, driver/tour guide and gasoline. See more info about Bali Sweet Guide on the HOTELS & TRANSPORTATION Page. The other option is to download the Apps on your phone called GoJek or Grab (these are similar to Uber or Lyft in South East Asia). They accept cash payment or debit/credit cards linked to your account.

Q: How Will I Communicate While in Bali (Phone Service)?

Having a Smartphone (iPhone or Android) is extremely supportive and accessible. Consult with your phone carrier company (i.e. Verizon, AT&T, etc) and learn what international plans are available for text and internet packages (price range from $10/day or up to $100/month unlimited use). SIM Cards may not be necessary in this case. We recommend setting up a WhatsApp thread on your phone before leaving for Bali for communication while traveling to, from and during your Bali stay,

Q: How shall I pack for our Bali adventure?

See Recommended Packing List Below

Q: How do we prepare for and acclimate to Bali?

We recommend you give yourself 1 to 2 days for rest and acclimation once you arrive in Bali. There is a 15 hour time difference between California (Pacific Timezone) and Bali (Singapore| Denpasar Timezone). Flight Times can vary but range from 19 to 25 hours, with a layover or two thrown in. Jetlag and dehydration are very real experiences. Keep in mind you lose a day in your travels east. For example: if you leave early on Friday morning (130AM) from California, you might arrive in the late evening (11PM) on Saturday in Bali.

Q: By what date shall we plan to arrive in Bali?

Generally, we recommend you gift yourself 1 to 2 days of rest to acclimate to the time zone leaps, jet lag and climate difference. According to Maia and Dennis's tentative Bali Events & Activities Itinerary (See the HOME Page for details), they will participate in a traditional Balinese Purification Ceremony near Ubud on August 6, 2024. If you would like to serve as witness for this ceremony, we recommend you arrive in Bali no later than the morning of August 5, 2024.
