SeaWorld San Diego

500 Sea World Dr, San Diego, CA 92109, USA

Uncover aquatic adventures at SeaWorld® San Diego, where thrilling rides and spectacular live animal shows are sure to entertain visitors young and old. Take a high-speed roller coaster ride on Manta®, watch whales leap out of the water at the One Ocean® show, and get up-close to marine creatures at Explorer's Reef and Shark Encounter.

If you're a thrill seeker, head straight to the rides after passing through SeaWorld's gates, making your way to the twists, turns, and loops of Manta or the wet and wild drops of Journey to Atlantis. Afterward, check out the sky-high views from the Skytower or take little visitors on a dizzying trip with Abby's Sea Star Spin.

Let your inner marine biologist draw you to the park's animal exhibits, like the touch pools of Explorer's Reef, where you can have your fingers tickled by cleaner fish and discover what a bamboo shark feels like. Check out playful bottlenose dolphins, barking sea lions, and waddling penguins in expansive exhibits, watch sharks glide through the water at Shark Encounter's underwater viewing tunnel, and don't miss the opportunity to get splashed by orca whales leaping out of the water during the One Ocean® show.

USS Midway Museum

910 N Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101, USA

Climb aboard the USS Midway, known for serving in both Operation Frequent Wind in 1975 and Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Take time to explore all the main areas of this famed aircraft carrier, including access to 29 carefully restored aircraft on the flight deck.

Visit the 60 exhibits, each steeped with the sights, sounds, and smells of the Midway's past. Step into the massive galley, tour the engine room, and walk through the private sleeping quarters of the sailors. Then head to the 4-acre (1.6-ha) flight deck to get an up-close view of the F-14 Tomcat and the TBM Avenger.

A day spent on board this floating city allows you to take a journey back in time with the original crew of the Midway. Listen to their voices on the audio tour as they offer firsthand accounts of daily life at sea. In addition, the volunteer docents—many of whom also served on the Midway—share their personal stories and anecdotes with you during your day of discovering a piece of American history.

Immerse yourself in the animal kingdom at the 100-acre (40-ha) San Diego Zoo, home to more than 4,000 animals across 800 rare and exotic species. Spend quality time with giant pandas, New Zealand kiwis, endangered sun bears, and Galápagos tortoises—the zoo’s oldest residents.

At the Polar Bear Plunge, get an up-close underwater view of these iconic Arctic bears as they swim and play. Visit Gorilla Tropics, one of the zoo’s bioclimatic zones, where the sights and sounds of a tropical rainforest closely mimic the African lowland gorilla’s natural habitat.

The Children’s Zoo includes a nursery with baby animals and a popular petting area where sheep and goats await their next cuddle. And in the Outback, you can see hopping kangaroos, cuddly koalas, and hot pink flamingos hanging with their friends.

If your feet need a rest, board one of the open-air double-decker buses for a 35-minute narrated tour around many of the zoo's best exhibits, take the Express Bus and hop on and off at 5 different stops, or snag a bird’s-eye view of the entire grounds with a high-flying ride on the Skyfari® Aerial Tram.
