We met through our assignments at church, Hyrum as the Elders Quorum President, and Malia as the Relief Society President. We started spending time together in mandatory meetings, but quickly became close friends. Our group of friends spent every spare minute we had hanging out, usually until two in the morning. Hyrum caught feelings fast, but the Spring and Summer of 2023 were spent with him in the friend zone. Come August we started going out on dates. However, Malia refused to acknowledge the obvious connection and told everyone that we were just hanging out. Hyrum was already Malias best friend, but it was on these dates that she realized our relationship could be more than that friendship. Malia wanted to give us a shot.


From Malia: I quickly realized that I was in love with him, and I had been all along. Now that we are together, I look back with so much gratitude that Hyrum waited for me to catch on to what he knew all along.


From Hyrum: Her willingness to have worked through her hesitations and be all-in means the world to me. I remember the specific moment I knew I would never be satisfied without her. It’s a feeling I’ll never forget.”
