There is lots to do in and around McMinnville -- Yamhill and Willamette Valley vineyards, Mt. Hood, Portland, and the Pacific Ocean are all within just an hour or two. We want our out-of-state friends and family to get a taste for why we love it here!

Dinner: You really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants on 3rd Street in downtown McMinnville. We treat ourselves to Thistle once a year (http://www.thistlerestaurant.c...), for the opposite end of the spectrum, try the steak special at our favorite dive, the Blue Moon Lounge (https://www.bluemoonmac.com).

Leave town:

Head to the coast! We especially love Lincoln City and Depoe Bay, which is about an hour away, and you can't go wrong with a trip up or down the coast. If you go south, don't miss Rogue Brewery and the Aquarium in Newport. Head north toward Astoria and check out the shipwreck at Fort Steven's State Park, outside of Astoria.

Mount Hood is about 2 hours away and there's a huge amount of adventure to be had. We like to visit Timberline Lodge, where part of The Shining was filmed!
