Things to Do

Fifth Avenue, Luis Donaldo Colosio, Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Fifth Avenue (Calle Quinta Avenida) is a pedestrian shopping strip that extends from Calle 38 (Mahekal Beach Resort) all the way to the port where a ferry can take you to Cozumel. Retailers and restaurants range from locally-owned gift stores, restaurants, bars and high-fashion retailers. You can find pretty much anything there.

Cozumel

Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico

The island of Cozumel is 45-minute ferry ride off the coast of Playa Del Carmen. There's plenty of shops, restaurants and things to do when you arrive to the island. We decided to rent scooters and drive around the entire island, which took several hours and was a total blast.

Cozumel also boasts some of the best scuba diving in the world.

Tulum, Mexico

The city of Tulum, Mexico is about 50 minutes south of Mahekal Beach Resort. It's known for its Mayan Ruins and beautiful crystal clear underground cenotes that you can swim in.

Mahekal Beach Resort

Calle 38 S/N, Zona Federal Maritima, Gonzalo Guerrero, 77710 Playa del Carmen, Q.R., Mexico

Seriously, there's no reason to walk off the Mahekal Beach Resort property if you don't want to.

With four pools, (including one infinity pool and one swim-up bar), hammocks tied between coconut palm trees, drinks served on the beachfront with turquoise Caribbean waters, pool tables, large-screen TV's and a gym, there is more than enough to do without ever leaving the resort.
