Cancun International Airport
Playa Del Carmen is 50 minutes south of Cancun International Airport.
Pennsylvania Guests: Southwest Airlines flies nonstop from Baltimore to Cancun, and offers reduced group rates for 10 or more people. We highly recommend connecting with others to take advantage of the cost savings.
Upon arrival to Cancun, you have a few options for getting to Playa Del Carman and Mahekal Beach Resort:
1. Mahekal Shuttle Service. Mahekal Beach Resort offers private and direct transportation to/from Cancun International Airport. The cost is approximately $90 and you will be taken directly to the resort. You may be able to split this cost with others that also want this option.
2. ADO Bus. If you want to save some money and enjoy some local flavor, this is a great option and the one that we used when visiting last year. The ADO bus costs approximately $10 per person, and will take you to the Playa Del Carmen bus station. From there you can take a taxi to the resort. The bus is similar to a greyhound, is air conditioned and plays American movies dubbed over in Spanish during the trip. It's also BYO, so you can enjoy a Modelo on the way there.
3. Taxi/Shuttle. Plenty of taxis and shuttles can take you to Playa Del Carmen or directly to the resort. It's hard to hide from the people selling these trips when you get off the plane. The price is likely somewhere between the ADO bus and the private Mahekal shuttle.
Mahekal Beach Resort
Mahekal Beach Resort is a beautiful beach resort on the caribbean coast in the heart of Playa Del Carmen. We stayed there in June 2016 and after a few short days we knew that it was the perfect spot for our wedding.
Please use the website link below to book rooms for the Weiss/Gunzenhauser wedding on May 20, 2017. We have a block of rooms set aside for May 17-21, 2017 (Wednesday - Sunday).

Please keep in mind that the room rates you see on our reservation link are priced by the number of guests per room and include taxes. The resort is not all-inclusive, but you do get two meals per day included in the rate. Alcohol and a third meal will be priced in addition to your room rate.
Mahekal Beach Resort often runs specials that you can take advantage of, so you may also book a room on the Mahekal Beach Resort website if you find a better price there. If that's the case, please use the following instructions:

2. Please take a screenshot of your checkout page with the price you booked and send it to groupsandweddings1@mahekalplaya.com (Attn: Karla Vega) and holamalloryandbrian@gmail.com. Our coordinator at the resort needs to confirm that you are part of our group, and that it counts towards our block of rooms.
3. Please make sure you consider the package you are choosing for your stay. There are two plans regarding meals: The American Plan includes two meals per day (alcohol not included). The European Plan (or room only) includes no meals or alcohol. The European plan might be good if you want to try local eateries off the Mahekal property.
When our block of rooms fill up we will provide additional details on booking rooms for our wedding.
