If you are traveling from out of town for the weekend, there are lots of great places to eat and drink during your stay in Pittsburgh! The hotel blocks are conveniently located in an area of the city with lots of bars/restaurants within walking distance to a 5 minute drive. Some of our favorite local spots are listed below:
Sally Ann's- Cute breakfast spot a couple blocks away from the hotels. They are open from 7am-2pm.
The Commoner- Great brunch in the city! Located inside of Hotel Monaco a few minutes from the hotels.
Bridges and Bourbon- A cool spot for specialty cocktails located on the same street as the hotels. They also serve small plates and sandwiches.
Whisper- A new dessert and wine bar. Perfect spot for a post dinner treat and drink! Located on Penn next door to Bridges and Bourbon
Sienna Mercato- Fun rooftop bar also on Penn Avenue by the hotels. Food is okay-the rooftop bar is the best part!
Con Alma- Lively jazz club/restaurant with regular performances serving small plates & mains, plus great cocktails. Walking distance from the hotel blocks.
Barcelona Wine Bar- One of our favorite spots in the city! Located down the street from the hotels. They serve Spanish style tapas and have a large selection of wine.
Proper Brick Oven- Italian eatery for pasta dishes & oven-fired pizzas paired with tap beers. One of our favorite pizzas in the city! They do not take reservations and it can be busy at times.
Bakersfield- Mexican restaurant located very close to the hotels. They make great margaritas!
The Eagle- Eatery and beer hall serving southern classics such as fried chicken & spoonbread.
PA Market- Another one of our favorites! Located in the strip district ~5 minutes from the hotels. They have multiple bars and several different food counters offering a variety of dishes from pizza to tacos to charcuterie. They have a great outdoor courtyard patio.
Coop Deville- A local bar we go to often! Also located in the strip district ~5 minutes from the hotel. They serve great chicken sandwiches and have arcade games, bowling & billiards. Children are welcome during the daytime hours.
Luke Wholey's Wild Alaskan Grille- Locally owned seafood restaurant in the strip district ~5-10 minutes from hotels. Great sushi and the best bloody mary in town!
Eddie V's - Elegant fine-dining chain with a seafood & steak menu, plus a cocktail lounge featuring live jazz. Located downtown ~5 minutes from hotels
Altius- One of our favorite splurge restaurants. Located on Mt. Washington with amazing city views. Fine dining offering steak, seafood, and upscale New American dishes. ~10 min drive from downtown.
Alla Famiglia- Our other favorite splurge restaurant. Upscale Italian restaurant serving steaks, veal, seafood, and pasta. (~10 min drive from downtown) The veal is our favorite!
