(We've added some helpful step-by-step photographs below) Taxis and buses are available from Cancun to Playa del Carmen ferry terminal. The best option is the ADO bus. It takes between 40 minutes and 1 hr 30 mins depending on traffic and costs 250 Pesos (15 USD or 13 EUR). If you prefer a more private option, taxis can be pre-booked online as well through the Cancun airport website https://www.cancunairport.com/taxi.html. Unlike other Airports, Cancun Airport Taxi Services MUST BE Pre-Arranged If you are planning on arriving in the area a few days early, Playa del Carmen would be a good place to break up the journey into two parts. The ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel takes around 35 minutes and costs around 600 to 700 pesos (35 USD or 32 EUR). There are 2 companies that operate: Winjet and Ultramar *(Ultramar is the nicer option). Unfortunately buying a ticket does not guarantee you a spot on the ferry. Be sure to go up the escalator and get in line as soon as you buy the ticket. Between the two companies a ferry will leave every hour on the hour from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel between 8 am and 10 pm. However, they alternate every hour, so if you are on Ultramar and miss your 9 AM ferry you’ll need to either buy a 10 AM on Winjet or wait until Ultramar’s 11 AM. The final leg will be a short 10 minute taxi from either the airport or ferry terminal in Cozumel to the hotel. Taxis on Cozumel are not too expensive and should cost around 150 Pesos (8 USD or 8 EUR). We will try to organize a group transportation schedule to make this easier. The returning ferry from Cozumel to Playa Del Carmen is nearly identical to the process of getting out to Cozumel. You’ll buy your one-way ticket for Ultramar (ideally) or Winjet based on your schedule and make sure to arrive and board 45 minutes before departure.
