Chichen Itza is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and a UNESCO world heritage site. It was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya people and exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico. Pronounced like "Whole Bush", this is where the bride and groom are going to spend a few days the week after the wedding. It's a unique island that is only reachable by ferry; cars are not permitted and it is super eco-friendly. It's home to flamingos, pelicans and other rich birdlife. The island is developing a growing tourist industry in the form of whale shark viewing. Lobster is the main product of this fishing and many of the dishes made on the island center around lobster or other seafood. One of the main nighttime attractions is the bioluminescent plankton.
