Michael and Mariaitzel briefly met in 2015 at a co-ed soccer game at UTEP while they were students. They were both impressed by each others skills on the field, but were both dating other people *gasp*. They went about their lives. Michael moved to Dallas the following year and Mariaitzel went on to attend graduate school. They did not see or hear from each other for 7 years after that night. Then on December 23, 2021, their friend Sherman, tried to introduce them to each other at his party. However, Mariaitzel shared, “we’ve met before, I remember you,” as they shook hands. Michael nodded and said, “yeah, I remember you from the soccer team, youre the one that scored all the goals.” Mariaitzel swooned! Michael who is known for dipping out early, stayed until almost 2:00 in the morning. They went on to talk the whole night.




They then had their first date on New Years Eve. But unfortunately, Michael had to go back to Dallas the very next day. However, even after just one date, they knew they had something special. They continued to talk every day, sharing glimpses of their lives through FaceTime, photos, texts, and phone calls. They managed to visit each other every few weeks throughout the next six months. They then realized they could no longer stand to be apart. So Michael asked Mariaitzel to move to Dallas with him. Although it was hard to leave her life in El Paso, Mariaitzel happily accepted.




They began sharing their new lives in their home, alongside their pups- Rory and Butters. They have grown and shared countless adventures, laughs, and memories. Almost a year later, on May 7th, 2023, Michael proposed! They have loved every part of their love story and are excited to see how it continues. ❤️
