When and where should we book our cabin?
The best option is Elkins Resort. Having everyone on site would be so fun as well as the most convenient option. We have all cabins blocked off until September 30th (June 21-22nd are blocked off). I know it is unconventional but booking your cabin sooner rather than later is ideal. Please call Elkins Resort at +1-(208)-443-2432 and say you would like to reserve a cabin for the Medjo Wedding on June 22nd, 2024. They will ask for a card to have on file, but will not charge until arrival/checkout. Cancellations and changes are free until six months before the wedding. If you would like to change cabins or need to cancel last minute, there will be a fee.
If Elkins Resort is not for you, there are other options around the lake including Hills Resort, Coolin Motel, Nordman Motel, plus a few others and an assortment of Air BnB's and VRBO options. We recommend booking your lodging as early as possible because everywhere will be full for the season by the time March 2024 rolls around if not earlier.
What is the closest airport?
Spokane Airport (GEG) is the best option to fly into. There, you can rent a car and drive about an hour and a half to Elkins Resort, which is the wedding venue.
What day should we arrive?
Thursday afternoon or Friday midday are the best times to fly in. The rehearsal dinner is open to all guests and will provide the opportunity for both sides of the family and friends to meet each other before the big day.
Also, driving at night can be confusing. Elkins Resort is in a remote area of Idaho. Cell reception is likely to be lost and the roads do not have street lights.
What is the attire of the wedding?
The attire is Destination Semi-Formal. The ceremony and reception are outdoors and we are expecting a warm sunny day. We encourage floral dresses and appropriate hats! We would like our guests to be comfortable while also maintaining a semi-formal dress code.
Where can I eat in the area?
There are a few restaurants in the area: Millies, Chimney Rock, Elkins Lodge, Ardy's Cafe, Hills Restaurant, and the Tamrak General Store and Restaurant. The cabins at Elkins Resort all have full kitchens so we encourage stopping in Spokane or Newport on the drive up to Priest Lake for basic groceries.
This is a remote part of Idaho. Amenities are limited and all excursions will require a car. If you are staying at Elkins Resort, there is a full restaurant and bar as well as a mini store with a few snacks and goodies.
Who should I contact if I have questions?
Please feel free to call or text Marin Grote if you have questions! Her number is 818-220-1204.
