Marisa and Devin met each other during their Freshman year of high school because they were in the same Spanish class. They started dating their Senior year of high school after Marisa tricked Devin into going to Homecoming with her. Their first date was at Steak N' Shake.

They made it Facebook official when Devin asked Marisa to be his girlfriend on her parent's front porch on October 25th, 2014.

They continued dating during their senior year and went to prom together. Devin asked willingly this time.

Marisa and Devin graduated from Lakota West High School together. Devin enlisted in the Navy, and Marisa was off to the University of Dayton (UD) to study Early Childhood Education. This would kick off their five-year long-distance relationship.

Devin graduated from Navy boot camp, and Marisa was making the most of her Freshman year at UD. Both were so glad to see each other after two months of letter writing.

In October, Devin gets stationed in Pensacola, FL. They try to visit each other whenever they can. On one visit to Florida, they got to kayak, enjoy a Mardi Gras parade, and try the Melting Pot for the first time.

Marisa wraps up her Freshman year, and Devin is stationed in Norfolk, VA. The two are making the most of their long-distance relationship and making many memories.

A trip to Washington, D.C., was a great way to end the summer! Although the city was hot and crowded, Marisa and Devin loved exploring together.

With Marisa starting her sophomore year, they loved meeting halfway on long weekends. Exploring New River Gorge was such a peaceful trip! In January, Devin would deploy on a six-month deployment.

Devin came home! Sunflower pictures were mandatory. While they were together for a little, they also enjoyed going to Norris Lake, biking, and showing off their skills at Top Golf.

Marisa started her Junior year at UD, and Devin still lived in Virginia. They met in the middle and visited West Virginia for the first time together. They would get to visit each other every few months after this.

The summer wrapped with one more visit to Norris Lake. Both enjoyed the jet skis, boat snacks, and each other's company. The following year would fly by with trips to San Diego, Virginia, and another six-month deployment!

Marisa graduated from UD in May, and Devin was finishing his six-month deployment. When he returned, he surprised her with a trip to New York City. The Empire State Building was one highlight of the trip! This was the beginning of their last year apart!

Devin was in his last year of service, and Marisa had begun her first year of teaching. Spending time together during Christmas was a great way to end 2019!

July marked the end of their long-distance relationship! Marisa and Devin finally move into their first home together! Marisa would continue teaching, and Devin would start his Undergraduate program at the University of Cincinnati (UC) studying Civil Engineering.

They didn’t make it one month in their new home, and Marisa went to “look” at a puppy while Devin was at work. Devin does not let her “look” at puppies anymore. Benson settled in fast and wrapped the two of them around his little paw! He is the center of their world (as he should be)!

Devin proposed to Marisa on the evening of December 30th. They were enjoying a swim in their inflatable hot tub. What a great surprise to ring in the New Year!

For the next three and a half years, Devin and Marisa had the joys of traveling (San Diego, Oregon, and Texas, to name a few), spoiling their Corgi Benson any chance they could get, celebrating all the birthdays and holidays with their families, camping, and hanging out with friends.

Despite two school schedules to work around and life just being life, Marisa and Devin finally set a date to tie the knot! They are excited to share their special day with family and can’t wait to see everyone in Florida!
