Yes!
There is a lot of land around the venue, a grass field, and a gravel parking lot. Consider wearing chunky heels or boots. Thin heels will be difficult on this terrain.
How's the weather?
Daytime temperatures will likely be in the 60's and the nights will be cold. Consider bringing a jacket and dress in clothes that you'll be comfortable wearing in lower temperatures.
Are you really having a 70's theme?
Loosely, yes. If you know Marissa, you know she's a fan of themed parties and any excuse to dress to a certain era. 70's clothing is not required, but if you if you want an opportunity to put a fun, retro outfit together, we gladly welcome it. What's the parking situation?
There's a parking area at the venue, but it isn't huge. If you're staying in Silverton, please consider walking to the venue! It will likely be a short stroll and a great opportunity to take in the scenery of this charming little town.
Do I need to stay in Silverton?
We recommend staying in Silverton the night of the wedding. There is only one road that goes from Durango to Silverton. Highway 550 winds through the mountains and can be challenging, especially at night. It will be much safer to stay in town and ease any worries of leaving after dark. Please visit the 'Travel' page of our website to explore different lodging accommodations in Silverton. We also have free onsite camping available at the venue the night of the wedding!
If you're planning to stay in Southwest Colorado for some time before or after October 1st, we definitely recommend staying in Durango and getting to know the town we love!
Tell me more about onsite camping.
There is free onsite camping at the Kendall Mountain Recreation Center. If you want to camp at the venue the night of the wedding, please indicate that in your RSVP. Please feel free to show up any time before the event on Saturday to set up your tent. Please set up your camp directly behind the Recreation Center (the east side of the building) to avoid having tents set up in the field where the ceremony will take place (on the south side of the building).
What's the food and drink situation?
We will have appetizers, dinner and desserts served for guests. Dinner can be modified at the event to accommodate dietary needs.
We will also have beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages for guests. If you have a certain spirit you want to enjoy, you're welcome to BYO. And please consume with caution! The high elevation of Silverton means you may be 'feeling it' quicker than you're used to at sea level.
