Two Ladies Kitchen is a must if you’re in Hilo. This is a beloved local mochi shop famous for its soft, handmade mochi in a rainbow of flavors. Their standout offering is the strawberry mochi — a whole, juicy strawberry wrapped in smooth azuki bean paste and pillowy rice dough. But you can also find unique varieties like butter mochi, fruit-filled daifuku (lilikoi, pohā berry, grape, peach), as well as Oreo, brownie, sweet-potato, and seasonal fruit mochis. Call ahead if there’s certain mochi you’d like to try as the shop tends to be busy and popular flavors often sell out fast.
