What day should we arrive to Door County?
We are grateful for our friends and family traveling far distances to join us our wedding weekend. Guests are welcome to arrive as early as they would like to enjoy time in Door County. For those who are able, we will be holding a casual welcoming event at Gordon Lodge on Friday, May 30th, and of course the wedding ceremony and reception to follow on May 31st.
I'm not Catholic. What should I expect at the wedding mass?
We’re so excited to celebrate with you! Our wedding will take place during a Catholic Mass, which includes prayers, readings, and the Eucharist (Communion). You are welcome to participate as much as you feel comfortable—standing, sitting, and kneeling with the congregation. If you’d like, during communion, you can walk up with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing instead of the Eucharist. No matter your background, your presence means the world to us, and we’re grateful to have you there!
Can I use my cellphone during mass?
We kindly ask that phones be silenced and tucked away during the ceremony so everyone can be fully present. Our amazing photographer will be capturing all the big moments, and we can’t wait to share those with you! Feel free to take your phones back out as we’re exiting the church—until then, just sit back, relax, and soak it all in.
Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?
The primary wedding ceremony and reception will be indoors. There will be a cocktail hour before the reception that will be taking place outdoors, weather permitting.
What is the dress code?
The wedding attire is semi-formal. Additionally, we encourage our guests to be inspired by the florals and colors of the spring season!
Will there be a gap of time in between the ceremony and reception?
Yes, there will be 1-1.5 hour gap between the end of the church ceremony and start of the cocktail hour at Gordon Lodge. Guests are welcome to spend this time however they please, whether this is resting before the reception or exploring Bailey's Harbor. Local businesses that we recommend checking out in Bailey's Harbor include Door County Brewing Company and Lake Fire Winery.
Will the venues have parking?
Parking will be available at both Stella Maris church and the Gordon Lodge. Parking may be limited so guests are encouraged to carpool.
Can I take an Uber or Lyft to/from Gordon Lodge?
Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are not available in the area surrounding Gordon Lodge, and cell service can be spotty. If you're not staying on the Gordon Lodge property, please plan ahead and decide on a designated driver. There are no local taxis or shuttles, so organizing your transportation in advance is essential. Overnight parking is available if needed, so feel free to leave your car and pick it up the next day.
Will there be an open bar?
Beer and wine, in addition to our signature cocktails during cocktail hour, will be provided for our guests. Additional mixed drinks/cocktails will available for purchase (cash only).
Do I have a plus one?
The number of seats we have reserved in your honor will be included on your RSVP card.
Who can I reach out to with additional questions?
We are happy to provide any additional information you may be seeking for our wedding weekend. Feel free to email martha.koenig97@gmail.com or sulaiman.mike@gmail.com with any additional questions.
