First Date: Matt and Mary's first date was a picnic at Matts farm! They had facetimes and talked on the phone together for about a month before they had seen each other in person. To Matts surprise Mary did not lie about her height of 6'2". To Mary's surprised Matts blue eyes were much brighter than she thought and when the sun hit them just right they were soul piercing even from far away! What made it even more of a special day was sitting by a warm fire watching the sunset looking out into the field of crop (which matt had planted) listening to two goats "Maaaah", four sheep "Baaaah", three cows "Mooo", two horses "Neeeeh", and SEVEN DOGS "woof." That's when Mary knew this relationship was going to be an adventure of a lifetime!

First I Love You: Not too sure who said it first or even if this is the right date but both Matt and Mary remember ending a phone call saying "I love you bye" and hanging up then immediately calling back realizing that it was the first time saying that. Even though both of them usually end their calls with their family and friends saying "love you bye" it felt different that time. Matt and Mary both fell deeply in love very quickly when they first started dating, and the rest is history!

Got Engaged! Matt proposed on Vancouver Island at Sombrio Beach. Matt had waited for the right moment when no one was around... which was while hiking back to the truck up a steep hill! Mary was out of breath and needed to stop for a minute to get some air due to her asthma. Then all of a sudden BOOM right then and there Matt saw his opportunity and got down on one knee! Mary almost reached a point of hypoxia due to Matt taking the rest of her breath away! But....She said YES!
