Our Wedding

Matthew and Mary Kate, both graduates of the University of Alabama, met each other briefly at a mutual friend's 21st birthday party in October of 2018. We talked and mingled for several hours that night but moved in separate directions. We both went on to graduate and move across the country. Mary Kate moved to Austin, Texas to pursue graduate school and Matthew started a brand new job in Tucson, Arizona. Fast forward to the summer of 2022, Matthew reached out to Mary Kate and we spent some time catching up. Mary Kate and Matthew went on their first date in Austin, Texas as Matthew was on his way to Arizona. After keeping in touch intermittently for the next year, Matthew and Mary Kate crossed paths once again in the summer of 2023, but this time for good! After starting to date long distance in 2023, Matthew and Mary Kate quickly discovered a mutual love for traveling, good food, and making fun memories. We traveled to the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Mexico, San Antonio, Fredericksburg, TX, Dallas, and many more places together. In summer of 2024, Matthew and Mary Kate put an end to their long distance relationship and took the leap to start the next chapter... before we knew it, we were both packing boxes and made our way back across the country to Huntsville, Alabama, which we are so pleased to call home. We got engaged shortly after our move over Labor Day Weekend, 2024. Matthew and Mary Kate knew very early on that they wanted to spend their lives together, often saying "when you know, you know" or as Harry Burns of "When Harry Met Sally" once stated, "when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." We cannot wait for the rest of our lives to start as soon as possible. And we are so grateful for you to celebrate with us as we begin this next chapter.

Where to Stay

The 106 Jefferson Hotel is a beautiful hotel, conveniently located downtown, just a short walk or drive to the venue. This hotel is our preferred hotel, with a room block available. The hotel has a rooftop bar, Baker and Able, as well as a restaurant and bar, the Revivalist. If using our room block, please input dates of 12/05/2025-12/07/2025 with code 90L. The first option should be 106 Jefferson with a note that says Bailey OConnell Wedding.

While we do not have a room block here, this hotel is another fantastic option. The hotel is downtown and has a restaurant and a bar. It is located just steps away from Big Spring Park, which is a popular Huntsville attraction.

Huntsville is such a fun and unique city. We are so happy that you will have the chance to explore the city that we love so much! Some Huntsville FUN FACTS: Our wedding venue, the Roundhouse, is the town’s historic train depot! During your stay in Huntsville, check out the old historic trains located adjacent to our venue! Huntsville uses a purple cup policy within the city's entertainment districts. This means that you can freely walk on the street and sidewalks with open container alcohol policy, just as long as your drinks in a purple cup. The local bars and restaurants can provide you with a purple cup before you leave their establishment! Huntsville is called the Rocket City. You will find space themed businesses, art, food, and drinks all throughout the city. The Saturn V rocket, which took humans to the moon, was developed in Huntsville. Huntsville has several scavenger hunts to complete. Including a Craft Beer Trail, Craft Coffee Trail, and Craft Cocktail Trail! Huntsville is nicknamed the Rocket City! The Space and Rocket Center is an awesome spot to check out in Huntsville... they also have a wonderful gift shop.

Lowe Mill is an old iron mill that has been converted into many unique art shops and studios. Art ranges from painting to pottery to music. You can meet the artists and see them at work or simply enjoy looking at the beautiful work through the windows.

Bridge Street is an outdoor shopping mall with many great stores and restaurants! It is also very well decorated at Christmas time!

Each December, the city of Huntsville sets up a glorious Tinsel Trail of Christmas trees sponsored by local businesses. Grab some hot chocolate and take a stroll to see the beautifully lit trees and feel the holiday cheer!

For those who went to the University of Alabama... you know how great Taco Mama is! Taco Mama is a classic here in Alabama. They offer dine-in counter service with a large variety of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more... plus the margaritas are fantastic. Our favorites are the queso and frozen pomegranate margaritas! Perfect for a more casual lunch or dinner.

Campus 805 is a Huntsville gem! The campus is an abandoned school campus with new businesses embedded within. Here you will find several bars and restaurants to enjoy. Straight to Ale is our favorite… they brew their own fantastic beer and have a great food menu as well. Then, grab a purple cup and explore the campus! Campus 805 is home to our Welcome Party at the Lost Highway Lounge!
