Q + A

I’VE NEVER BEEN TO A CATHOLIC MASS, WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

One of the best things about planning a wedding at the same time as your sister is less work lol! Thank you to Jourdan and Joe for this lovely explanation: "We are so glad you are coming!! A very simplified explanation is that as Catholics we believe that the Mass is when God comes down to Earth in the form of the bread and the wine, and transforms the bread and the wine into his own self. We call this the Eucharist and it is one of the most sacred and central parts of our faith as we believe that it is truly God! There are two parts of the Mass, the first being the liturgy of the word (where we read from the old testament, the new testament, and the Gospels) and the second being the liturgy of the Eucharist, (where the priest transforms the bread and wine into the Eucharist and distributes communion). The Eucharist is so sacred in our faith that we have a tradition where only those who have been formally catechised (taught) in catholic teachings on the Eucharist are allowed to eat of it. This is because in our faith we truly want you to know and understand who and what you are receiving! If you are not Catholic, during communion please feel more than comfortable to come up with your arms across your chest to receive a blessing from the priest. In total, the mass will last about one hour and there will be some sitting, standing, kneeling and hopefully a whole lot of singing".

WHERE TO SEND GIFTS?!

First we want to thank everyone for all of your love and support. One of the biggest gifts we can ask for right now are prayers! Prayers for our growth during this period of extra long-distance as well as prayers for us both in school. Since Rachel is moving to Utah and only has limited amount of space to bring things with her (as she has too many personal belongings lol), if you are purchasing a gift off of our registry we ask you to please send it to Utah rather than bring it to the shower or wedding (The address should be linked to our registries - if there is a problem please reach out and we can send it to you!) If you are sending a card, please send to Rachel's home address in Maryland (please reach out if you need this address as well!). Thank you so much and sorry for any inconvenience!

CAN I BRING A GUEST?

Mason and I have been so blessed to have a ton of amazing people in our lives that have walked with us individually and as a couple. Unfortunately, our venue has a max capacity that limits us inviting every single person we would have wanted to be there for our reception. You can find your RSVP on our website which will indicate who is invited to the reception. If your friend, girlfriend, boyfriend, children, etc. are not invited to the reception, we would absolutely love to see them at the wedding at St. Mark's! Thank you for understanding!

I WANNA PARTY HARD! CAN I UBER??

As much as we want everyone to enjoy and have fun, there is no question - do NOT drink and drive! We highly encourage you to coordinate driving plans before the big day! Unfortunately Ubers are scarce since the location is more so in the country so please plan accordingly.

MASS ENDS AT 2:30 AND COCKTAIL HOUR STARTS AT 4... WHAT DO I DO?

The venue is about 30 minutes away from the church, but with an hour and a half break we suggest going to one of the local brewery's or winery's on your way to grab a drink/snack and get ready to party at 4pm with all of our guests! We apologize for this gap in time but give yourself a moment breath, take some pictures all dressed up, and we will see you shortly!

HELP! WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?!

Mason and Rachel both love an excuse to get dressed up and look their best! We say semi-formal, but we want you to be comfortable and also feel beautiful (and handsome)! If the bride and groom were guests: Rachel would probably wear a fun colored dress with cute heels or wedges and some jewelry to pull it all together! For the guys: Mason would wear a nice suit with a cool tie! Hope this helps!

WILL THERE BE FOOD AND DRINKS DURING COCKTAIL HOUR?

YES! We will have light hors d'Oeurvers during cocktail hour as well as a bar with variety of drinks! There will be one bar open during cocktail hour but two bars from dinner on! Enjoy!

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT FOR WEATHER?

You never know with the weather in MD as it can be 70 and sunny one day in November but 35 and windy the next day. However, the average temperature is usually around 55 degrees in early November. Make sure to bring a jacket, but the cocktail hour and reception should both be enclosed unless the weather is beautiful and we and we can keep some doors open to view the beautiful pond (fingers crossed!!)

I THINK I'M LOST - EXTRA DIRECTIONS

The venue location is easily accessible and there will be parking attendants to guide you when you get there. While you are driving expect to pass by other houses and Pond View Farms will be on your right about 0.7 miles down Jolly Acres Rd.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CONTACT YOU?!

On the big day there may be questions that arise. In case you have any important questions and can't find the answers, feel free to track down someone in the bridal party or the bride/grooms family. If there are last minute questions leading up to the wedding day feel free to text Rachel or Mason. Thank you!

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS:)

Feel free to reach out to Mason or Rachel anytime before the big day with any questions that may arise:) Cant wait to celebrate with everyone!! November 9th please come faster!
