Our Wedding

The day before (3rd April)

Time: 2pm-6pmLocation: Canalhouse Pub48-52 Canal St, Nottingham NG1 7EH We are planning to be around Nottingham the day before the wedding from 2pm to 6pm in order for guests to drop in and see us and have a pint at the Canalhouse pub. Drop in if you're already in the city and stay for as long or as little as you like!

Time: 12.45 meet for a 1pm departureLocation: The right hand lion statue (opposite the Burger King), Old Market Square, Nottingham City Centre Transport will be arranged to get you to the ceremony. Picking you up at the city centre in Nottingham. If you would like to make your own way to the venue, details can be found on the important infomation tab.

The ceremony

Time: 1.30pm arrival for a 2pm startLocation: Prestwold Hall (formal gardens)For the Americans, the time may come as a shock, but weddings in the UK happen a lot earlier, so we're trying to meet in the middle!Our dress code is formal, but as we're hoping weather permits for an outdoor ceremony, please bring a warm coat to wrap up -even if its not formal!

Time: 2.30pmLocation: Prestwold Hall (gardens)Sit back, relax and tour the house and gardens, we're setting up plenty for you to do while we go and take photos.

The meal

Time: 4pmLocation: Prestwold Hall (dining room and picture gallery)Come eat, enjoy toasts and speeches, and dig into cake! The dinner is slightly different to a stereotypical wedding venue, with a thinner and longer set up down both the dining room and picture gallery, giving a dinner party vibe!

The reception

Time: 6.30 to midnightLocation: Prestwold Hall (the whole house!)The party is here! Set in the library and picture gallery, the reception doesn't have a marked out dance floor but instead feels like a 1800s houseparty. And if you dont like dancing, there is an old fashioned bar and rooms all through the house to relax and enjoy the evening.We've also organised a buffet for grazing, be sure to get in there before the Water Polo players do

Carriage home

Time: MidnightLocation: Prestwold Hall to Nottingham City CentreHome time, Cinderella! We are again arranging coaches to take people back to the centre of Nottingham, but if you would prefer to arrange taxis before then, the venue is happy to help you call one of their local suppliers. If you think you will be ordering a taxi, we do recommend bringing cash, as the location of the Hall may not be great for Ubers.

Details

With arranged transport to and from Nottingham City Centre, we recommend staying in the city so you can sit back, relax, and not have to worry about transport on the day. The bus will be collecting and dropping off around Old Market Square. We recommend the Park Plaza, Crowne Plaza, and Premier Inn (Nottingham City Centre), which are within walking distance, close to things to do in the city, and aren’t too pricey. There are also plenty of Airbnbs, plus more budget options nearby. For those coming from abroad, we’ve put together a “For Those Travelling Internationally” tab to explain your best options for getting to Nottingham. The page also includes trips to other places in the UK, as Nottingham works well as a central base and has great transport links to places of interest. We've also included a “Things to Do” tab if you're staying in the area before or after the wedding. If you don’t want to stay in the city centre, there are plenty of taxis and Ubers to get you there. The staff at Prestwold Hall can help arrange your taxi home with local companies (Ubers are unlikely to collect from the venue — we recommend you bring cash).

Nottingham

Our first photo (crashed by one of the groomsmen!) was taken in Wollaton Park, a short walk from the city centre, and home of Wayne Manor from Batman.﻿

Nottingham means a lot to us — it’s where we met! Jas was doing a PhD and Matt was doing his Master’s, and we met at the University of Nottingham on a waterpolo team day out at a nearby lake.It’s a fun, historic city with a bit of everything: the legend of Robin Hood, cricket, football, Wollaton Park (Wayne Manor from Batman surrounded by deer!), loads of great pubs (including the oldest inn in England established 1189AD), the University of Nottingham, and a proper local vibe.It’s also super easy to get to — just under 2 hours by train from London and well connected to the rest of the UK.We’ve put some of our favourite spots on the “Things to Do” page — definitely check it out if you’re planning to explore while you're here!

A sneak peak at the wedding venue! 

Set between Nottingham and Loughborough, Prestwold Hall is an 18th-century home with over 2,500 acres of parkland surrounding it. We're aiming to have an outdoor ceremony in the formal gardens, with an indoor meal and reception set in the Picture Gallery and Dining Room. Dress Code

Claimed to be England’s oldest pub, this quirky inn is built into the caves below the castle. Dating back to 1189, it’s full of medieval relics, the start of ghost tours, and is also a cheap place for a pint. A must see for visiting Notts

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem

An Elizabethan mansion (aka Wayne Manor from The Dark Knight Rises) sits in a vast park home to free-roaming deer. The hall is now a free natural history museum mostly filled with some crazy taxidermy alongside all the original painted walls and ceilings.

Wollaton Hall museum

Beneath Nottingham lies a hidden world: a network of over 800 man-made caves carved into the sandstone. Tours explore their use as medieval tanneries, WWII air raid shelters, and Victorian slums. Fascinating, atmospheric, and a little spooky.

City of Caves

Nottingham has three stadiums, all next to each other — Trent Bridge Cricket Ground (Nottinghamshire vs Durham, 5th and 6th April), and two football stadiums (Nottingham Forest and Notts County), whose fixtures haven’t been published yet.

Take a stroll round the University of Nottingham Campus and Lake, where you can rent rowing boats out (from 1st April-check online) to take out for great views of the famous Trent clocktower.
