Q + A

What time should we arrive?

If you're in town on Friday, please join us for a drink and slice of pizza at Ma Murphy's from 7pm. We'll be in The Forge which is through the main bar and out the back. On Saturday, we expect things will kick off around 2pm, so arrive from 1.30pm, or 1pm if you'd like to walk around the gardens. You can find a schedule for the day on the home page.

What should we wear?

The dress code is semi-formal, dress to feel your best. We hope June 14th will be a warm sunny day but it is Ireland so expect all kinds of weather. It could be breezy during the ceremony so an extra layer might be needed. If it’s wet, we’ll have the ceremony in the house. After dinner we’ll be moving up to the stables for dancing and hope to have some fire pits and seating outside in the courtyard. You might need an extra layer to stay warm. Dancing shoes are a must, we have a fantastic 7-piece band and a disco ball, so we hope to have a full dancefloor all night!

What will we eat?

We will be serving a vegetarian and vegan menu. There will be canapes at the drinks reception, followed by a sit-down three-course meal. A pizza truck will be on site for late night munchies. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know by email or include the information in your RSVP.

Are children invited?

We would love to accommodate everyone but Bantry House has strict limits on numbers due to the size of the library, and rules about use of the house which means it’s not very child-friendly (i.e. no inside play areas, tv rooms or sofas). We both have nieces and nephews, so space for children outside of our family members is very limited. For that reason, we kindly ask that only adults attend. Please speak to one of us if that’s a problem for you and we will do our best to help.

Should we bring a gift?

Your presence on the day is all we could wish for. We understand the expense of travelling and staying in West Cork, so having you there to celebrate with us is more than enough. If you would like to go the extra mile and have some creative talents to share, we will have a very informal sing-song after the band finishes. So, if you have an instrument you'd like to play, a song you would like to sing, or a story to tell, we would love for you to share it with us. If you'd still like to give something, a contribution to the honeymoon fund would be greatly appreciated.

Will there be a meetup before or after the wedding day?

We'll be gathering at Ma Murphy's pub in Bantry from 7pm on Friday evening, we would love you to join us there. Our Sunday plans are pretty relaxed, with many great pubs and beaches in the area, a swim and hair of the dog are most likely. Meeting spot and time to be confirmed.

What's the best way to get home?

We'll have a 7-seater minibus outside from 11.30 -2am running people to their accommodation in and around Bantry as and when they need it, making sure everyone gets home safely. You can also walk directly down the lane to the Maritime Hotel.
