Travel

If you're travelling from abroad, we recommend booking as early as possible. As you might expect, flights tend to fill up well in advance and will get more expensive closer to the time. Ferries also get more expensive closer to the time, but less so.

Drivers – If you have a car in Ireland with some spare seats, luggage space, and are willing to travel with someone else, we'd love to match you with guest(s) without transport.

Non-drivers – vice versa to the above, let us know if you'd like us to try to match you up!

By sea

Ferries run from the UK to Ireland on the 3 routes below. Bantry is 350 km from Dublin and 290 km from Rosslare but the drive takes a similar amount of time. If you drive from Dublin we recommend a stop at the Obama Plaza en route.

Holyhead–Dublin (3h15m)

Stena Line and Irish ferries operate this route:

- Holyhead–Dublin, Stena Line

- Holyhead–Dublin, Irish Ferries

By air

Cork Airport

If you're flying to Ireland, Cork Airport is a good option about 1h30m by car to Bantry. Ryanair and Aer Lingus operate direct, daily flights to Cork from London, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol.

Kerry Airport

Ryanair operate direct flights from Manchester and London to Kerry. It's also a 1hr 30m drive from Kerry Airport to Bantry so worth checking to see if the prices and times suit you better than Cork. There is also car hire available from Kerry Airport.

Dublin Airport

It's approx a 5hr drive from Dublin to Bantry, so you're likely to find Cork or Kerry easier.

If you love a bargain, most airlines are doing January sales and if you book your flight using Trip.com you can get an extra 10% off. More info here.

The best way to get to Bantry from any airport in Ireland is to hire a car. Here is a list of car hire operators.

There are no trains to Bantry, the closest you can get by train is Cork City or Killarney. You can connect with buses to Bantry from either of those but the services are slow and not always reliable.

Taxis

Once you're in Bantry, you may want to get around by taxi – there's no Uber here. Give one of these local services a call.
