Matthew and I met in AP Calculus class during our senior year of high school. He claimed that I kept looking at him throughout class, even though I was only looking at the homework board. One day, he asked to compare some homework, and through the process, he sneakily asked for my number. He officially asked me to be his girlfriend on November 17th.

We celebrated senior year events together, including prom, and graduated from Hudsonville High School in May.

Matthew and I began college in the fall. He committed to Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, to play baseball and study Mechanical Engineering, while I went to Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids to pursue Early Childhood Education. We started our long-distance relationship in September but made the most of it by meeting in Michigan City every Sunday.

Matthew's baseball season started in March, and I came to watch him pitch as much as I could, bearing the cold!

During the summers, we cherished every moment together before the school year began, and we had to go back to being long-distance.
